Heart Wrenching it is...

Although I do not know her personally, I am truly saddened over the senseless death of Lo Hwei Yen, as with the rest of Singapore. No one deserves such a fate. I cannot imagine how she must had been feeling then...

My sincere condolences to Ms Lo's family and friends, and may she rest in peace...

Happy Thanksgiving!

It is Thanksgiving today. This holiday is celebrated in the United States on the fourth thursday in November and most people celebrate by gathering at home with family or friends for a holiday feast. Thanksgiving was originally a religious observance for all the members of the community to give thanks to God for a common purpose. Although we do not celebrate this in Singapore, it just got me thinking of the things that I am thankful for:

People
- Being married to my husband. We've made a few roundabouts in life before we finally got together. Life has been blissful since.
- Kaelyn. She is my favourite baby girl! Heehee. And I am thankful that she did not give me a hard time during my pregnancy; No nausea, no discomfort of any sort, nothing!
- My family. We went through a tough patch when my mum was diagnosed with breast cancer. But she pulled through the treatments and is now living a normal life. 3 more years before the safe period :)
- My friends, whom I still keep in contact with, be it once a week, once a month, once a year, or once in a blue moon. You have played a part in my life, no matter how small, and I am grateful for that. There are so many (billions?) of people in the world, and yet our paths cross in one way or another.

& the Little Things in Life
- Being able to stay at home to look after Kae without worrying about making ends meet.
- Being able to afford the little luxuries in life without worrying about the credit card bill, like having foie gras 2 days in a row! Heehee :P
- Being able to gorge (literally!) on food while I am still pumping milk, heehee. Sigh, I have to watch my diet real soon as my supply is plunging!
- Having steamboat at Roxy Square when my parents take care of Kae on tuesdays!
- Watching re-runs of the Nanny and Friends on cable.
- That I am healthy (i think)!
- Getting back in shape so quickly after giving birth to Kae. Heehee. My pre-pregnancy bottoms are all now a bit loose for me!
- That there is so much yummie food around. Like the sashimi at Fish Mart Sakuraya Parkway, durian ice-cream at Scoopz Parkway, curry puffs at Tambuah Mas, donuts at J&Co, foie gras at Au Petit and Le Nicolas, Frogs' Leg porridge at Victoria Street, passion fruit meringue cake from the Patissier, pasta at Ristorante Da Valentino, etc etc.

And my list goes on... Will add on as and when...

What will your list of things to be thankful for be like? Happy Thanksgiving!

Oh what a Night!

22nd November 2008 was a night to remember.

I left Kaelyn to sleep overnight at my parents' place for the 1st time. She did sleep, but not throughout the night. According to my mum, she slept at her usual bedtime, 11 plus. But she woke up at 3am and refused to sleep. She finally slept before 5am, and woke up at 8am. She slept again at around 9am. I was hoping that Kae would be able to spend the night over at Bishan without much problems so that I can make it a regular thingy. Oh well, she will get used to it, *evil grin*.

Mummy and Kae before going off to Bishan:

The reason why i left Kaelyn overnight was because I wanted to go party! But alas, Aud, Jas and I ended up at Balaclava to chill; we still had a fantastic time! I think we don't have the energy anymore to dance the whole night.

It turned out to be a blessing in disguise. Why? Because there were shoe shops in Suntec for me to go to buy shoes, as my right shoe died on me! I only noticed that my strap broke after dinner. Heng ah, if we had gone to Clarke Quay as planned, I would be limping around in one shoe. This is the 1st time I've worn a shoe till the strap broke. And it happened to be my favourite pair; the one I bought for my ROM. Sob sob. In the end, I bought myself (another) RED pair. Heehee.

My favourite pair:

My new shoe!

Barclays Singapore Open 2008

This is our 3rd year attending the Barclays Singapore Open. As usual, we were there during the 3rd and 4th days, hanging out at the Barclays Pavilion, and following the flights for around 2 hours, before I succumb to the hot hot weather (only on the 4th day this year) and my aching feet.

We did not take any pictures of the players this year. Close up ones. The organiser had urged the public not to take any photos when they players are concentrating at their game. Well, I do find it irritating with sounds of any sorts when I am swinging. So out of respect for the game and the players, we didn't. There were a few idiots who used their SLRs to take shots of the players when they were driving. I said idiots as their SLRs are not exactly soundless, and they were like just 3 metres away from the tee off point. IDIOTS!

I was disappointed that Adam Scott did not even make the cut this year. It seems that he is not having a very good 2008. He is like ranked what, 18th now? Think he was like the top 5 golfers in the world previously.

And I was rooting for Harrington or Els to win. Sigh. Why did they have to miss their birdie putts? It would have been really exciting if they didn't and we would have an exciting 3 way face off. Oh well, there's always next year.

Meet Up with exUOB Peeps

Finally, ALL of us met up with one another after what seems like the longest time. Well, except that Kenny didn't stay long enough to meet up with Synyi and Derick. A great night of catching up with yummie food at Sun with Moon and not so tasty drinks at Borders Bistro. And I am now looking foward to my 1st cheonging session after donkey years with the gang on 22 Nov. Heehee.

Happy 10th month day Kaelyn!

Happy 10th month day Kaelyn! *muacks* 2 more months to turning 1 year old, mummy is now cracking her brains out as to how to celebrate for you :(

Shin's Cancer Blog

You might have noticed that I've added Shin's cancer blog to the list of webbies I am visting. I knew about her from this Channel 8 documentary aired a few days again.

Shin is suffering from advanced breast cancer. What drew me to her story? She seemed very strong in the documentary even though now her cancer had spread to her brain, lungs and liver. After reading through her blog, I was very intrigued by her never give up attitude towards her health and life itself.

Being a mother now myself, I always worry what if I am not around for my young baby. You see, my mum was diagnosed with Stage 2 breast cancer 2 years back. Having finished her chemo, she is now in the clear, but still on oral medication for 3 more years. I pray everyday that my mum will reach the 5 year "safe" mark soon.

I worry that I will somehow inherit this condition from her. More so now that I have a baby to care for. Breast cancer seems so "common" nowadays, so much so that it scares me. I've always respected the patients for being brave enough to face up to their condition, and for fighting to be alive for their loved ones. I wonder. What if. Will I be as brave. Will I be as tough.

Short Again!

I just cut my hair short again! Bob style. Wahaha. Without much persuasion from my hairdresser, just coz I was bored with my hair. I think this is easily the shortest I've had since my junior college year one days :)
