Canon S100

It seems like we always buy a camera when we are planning to go for a holiday. Okay, the holiday will be in another post. This post is about the Canon S100.

Somehow we have the same problems with all our digital cameras. We grow out of them within 2 years. Upon the initial purchase, we would swoon over how good the pictures taken look in terms of colour, lighting etc. After a year or so however, what attracted us about the camera in the first place ultimately became the con.

Ad so, now I'm hoping we'll stick to the Canon S100 for a while before getting another just because it is faulty technically, and not because we found fault with it. Hopes are quite high, as we love their DSLR and everyone has good reviews about their previous S95 model.

Kerri loves cheese!

Kerri is a fussy eater. I cannot stress that enough. So much so that she only eats cheese during snack time at Playclub.

So you can imagine how disappointed she is every time the cheese is not available. Usually they serve cheese once out of the twice weekly lessons. And how she will just go without food during that once a week.

Playing together

Now that Kerri is older and Kae is spending more time at home since she is no longer at childcare, the girls have been playing and fighting together with each other. From running around the house, chasing each other, and snatching toys away from each other. The list goes on.

And this is them sharing a bike seat with each other. How sweet. Even if it's just for 5 seconds.

Kae's 1st family Drawing

Ah yes, this is another of Kae's drawings.

We all look like aliens here I think. But at least she got all the fundamental organs in sight and in the correct places. Hah!

Week 2 at JG

And so here we are, week 2 at JG.

I always like to see Kerri's face whenever it's time for craft work. As you know, she dislikes dirt and stuff on her squeaky clean hands, and would whine and whine whenever her hands are dirty. Just check out her series of expression.

I wonder when she will be out of this " I want my hands to be clean" phase.

Muakids Labels

I am so loving the name labels from Muakids. Their icons are coloured and one can include the chinese name too. Order yours now!

Glorious Tuesday

Food oh glorious food. My tuesday was all about food.

First stop, we went to Greenwood Fish Bistro for a very late lunch. Even though we live very near now, we have not gone there for food ever since we moved in last July.

And we have to choose a Tuesday to head there for lunch just because, it's oysters day! $1 an oyster with every main course order. And I had a dozen all by myself! Yup, the hub doesn't take any shell food except for prawns, crabs and lobsters. So I can never order any clams, mussels, etc when we dine together.

Their fish and chips is one of the best I've eaten in Singapore. The skin is crisp and thin, with a thick slab of fish within.

After a heavy late lunch, we headed to Vivocity for some window shopping. And what better way to end the evening than having a happy hour drink? Brotzeit was ridiculously crowded, so we decided to drink at The Queen and Mangosteen instead.

Ah, I still prefer my beer over at Brotzeit, crowded or not.

And dessert of the day was a slice of chocolate cake from Lana Cake Shop located at 36 Greenwood Avenue. This was my first try. I've heard rave reviews about how moist and rich their chocolate cake is. Erm, but after having tried the cake, I do not see nor taste what the fuss is all about. I still prefer the chocolate cake from Awfully Chocolate.

I want MORE glorious Tuesdays!

French Fries

We are quite desperate for Kerri to eat anything except sweets as she's a fussy eater. She is at this moment, still not eating regular solids, fruits nor cereal. She's THE milk monster.

So we will give her french fries when we happen to dine at Macs. Only when Kae wanna eat ice cream, which happens to be just 2 spoons of their sundae, as she's really not that into icy cold food. The rest belongs to daddy and mummy. Hah!

Check out her different expressions.

New Love - Buratta Cheese

Burrata is a fresh Italian cheese, made from mozzarella and cream. The outer shell is solid mozzarella while the inside contains both mozzarella and cream, giving it an unusual soft texture. And it is my new love, after mozzarella.

We had this burrata cheese at Mondo Mio Italian Restaurant located at Robertson Quay.

And boy was it yummy. There's just something about burrata cheese/mozzarella and parma ham/salami which complements each other perfectly. Almost like a match made in heaven.

Back to Play Club

And so it has been mentioned in my earlier post that Kerri will be going to childcare only in June. Which makes today her 1st lesson at Playclub Term 2.

She fared quite well today. Considering the fact that she's in a different class with different classmates. The main teacher remains the same though.

And she's starting to show a interest in dinosaurs. She didn't even play with them in the last term.

Restaurant week - Oso Ristorante

Today, me and dar headed to Oso Ristorante for my second restaurant week lunch.

Overall, I think their food is not bad. The lunch was presented very nicely to the customers, and the food itself is old school with a twist. Very experimental I would say. A refreshing change from the usual Italian fare.

Passport for Kerri

Kae had her passport done at 8 months. And now it's Kerri's turn. She is 21 months now.

Our 1st photo was rejected. Argh. No I have to take another photo again! It's just so difficult to ask her to keep still for a shot.

Updated on 26th March: The second photo was approved! Yay!

Restaurant week - Bistro Du Vin

It's restaurent week! And this is my 1st out of 2 restaurant week lunches.

Clarice and I both had the two different appetizers, mains and chose the same dessert. She had the tomato soup and salmon, while I had the foie gras terrine and the coq au vin.

What I love about their food is that they are vey rich and hearty. Yums. Even their creme brulee was very sweet and rich.

And unlike some restaurants who would compromise their menu to fit into the restaurant week budget, I love that Bistro Du Vin does not. Their coq au vin is actually one of their more expensive and popular dishes on their regular menu!

Extended till June

And so, at the last minute, I've decided to put Kerri in childcare in June instead of April as planned.

Why? A few reasons actually. Kerri is still not talking, not eating herself, not drinking properly, not sleeping just by lying down, etc. She is still not there yet I suppose. Not by Kae's standards last time when she was at the same age.

But I suspect the main reason is I can't bear for her to go to school. Kae went to childcare because I was expecting Kerri and would not have the time to look after 2 kids myself. But now. I don't know.

But I do know that I will go crazy with both of them at home now. And that Kerri will definitely learn and absorb things when she starts going to childcare.

So, June it WILL be.

Boy oh boy, how I love the CHANEL boy bags. I think they are more gorgeous than the classics. I want one! More than one!

Caphe East

We went for dinner at Caphe East, which is opened by someone dar knows. The timing couldn't be more perfect as I had been craving for Viet food for a while now.

The food is authentic Viet as it's prepared by the mother-in-law of the friend, who is a Vietnamese. How much more authentic can you get?

First stop, the Goi Cuon. Best eaten when freshly out of the pan. We ordered as takeaway on another day and they did not taste as good.

Next, my Bun Cha Nem Thit Nuong, their dry rice vermicelli with grilled pork and fried spring rolls. Their secret ingredient for this dish is their homemade fish sauce. Yummy!

How can you not try their Viet coffee? We ordered their Cafe Den, which is served without condensed milk. I am loving their coffee which leaves your tongue with a bittersweet after taste.

Another must try which Kae had is their Pho Ga, vermicelli with chicken meat in their homemade broth. The broth was just delicious!

Tangs sale with Kae

I brought Kae out shopping today. And my greedy girl finished this slice of rich chocolate cake all by herself!

And so I have a 20% voucher from Tangs to spend in my birthday month. What better time to use it than when they are having their Tangs sale with the 12% rebate?

And so I go, and so I spend. I was looking at Dave Fine Jewellery, but the only stud earring which caught my eye costs over $800. Ouch. And so I focused my attention to another brand which caught my eye, Michal Negrin.

Theses are the 2 pairs of earrings I bought. Beieve me, the actual items are very much prettier if placed in front of you.

I've been resisting the urge to buy a pair of Repetto for the longest time. Since it's my birthday month, I gave myself a birthday treat. Heehee!

Day out with Kae and E

I bumped into E at the St James Family day on saturday. Another dragon boy is on the way!

Since it's been a while since we last met up, we arranged for a catching up session, though I had to bring Kae along.

It's funny how life is. E and I used to quite close in JC. But somehow, after we entered university, we lost touch after the 1st year. I cannot remember why. I always thought she went overseas for studies halfway. That was the reason why I didn't think of inviting her to my wedding. She was in Singapore all along then!

Oh well, better late than never. Even though she's based in Hong Kong now, we made the first step in "re-starting" our friendship.

Bubbles and Playground fun

This is the first time Kae is experiencing the 1 week holiday break, since her previous school was a childcare school and she could go to school during the so call school holidays.

With nothing planned for her, and with Kerri at home together, our estate's playground seems to be the best place for them to enjoy a bit of "holiday" time.

There's just something about bubbles and playgrounds that go so well together. The girls had a blast!
