Kae's new start

Kae will be starting her full day school on 4th January 2010.

We have finally decided on the Little Skool House, located at Mountbatten Square. I am so excited about Kae embarking into her next milestone. This is Kae in her official school uniform and her PE attire.

Here's crossing my fingers that Kae's transition to full day school will go smoothly next week!

Jingle bells Jingle bells

We celebrated Xmas 2009 with an early Xmas lunch (23 Dec) and a night stay at Ritz Carlton on Xmas eve.

We decided to have an early celebration at where else but Au Petit Salut; mummy needs her foie gras fix again. Think this is Kae's 5th visit to the restaurant.

Since we have no party invites on Xmas eve, we decided to celebrate Xmas quietly as a family at Ritz Carlton. Kae sure had fun running all over the room again, and she was so happy opening her 3 Xmas presents this year. And dar had a surprise Xmas present from me too!

Royal China

I finally tried the dim sum and Royal China located at Raffles Hotel.

We ordered 9 dishes and 2 dessert. Yums! I assumed that the dim sum at Royal China was very expensive. But hey, the price was quite reasonable, plus the portion of the dim sum was quite substantial! Of all the dishes, my favourite was the egg tart! You simply have to try them!

Their decor reminds me of the brand Tiffany, as the colour of the restaurant was in tiffany blue and silver. Heh. Nice.

My only complaint was that the food when served, was not very hot. Well, we reached just before 2pm, and I guess that we had the last round of dim sum. But still, they would have tasted so much better if they were served hot.

Kae's 1st Barney Live show

We went to catch Barney's live show at United Square the second day we are back from Perth.

The show was to start at 2pm. But of course, we went earlier to queue up. In the end, we reached at 115pm, and we were seated right at the back of the audience. There were people who queued up and didn't manage to get into the audience area.

Kae was so excited at seeing Barney. Imagine how big her eyes went when she saw Barney hopped on the stage. She danced and swayed along to all the songs during the full 20 minutes. And boy, she cried and wailed when the show was over! We had to drag her away!

Perth Trip day 7 & 8

Day 7 was our last day in Perth. Our flight back home was on day 8 in the wee hours at 1am.

We did nothing much on the last day. We had to drive back to Perth city to return the rented car, and waited for our host to pick us up and drive us back to Joondalup. Before that, we made a photo stop at where the Bell Tower is. The Bell Tower is located on Riverside Drive and overlooks the picturesque Swan River. Ah yes, Perth has a Ferris wheel too!

It was around 6pm when we reached Joondalup. We settled down, packed our stuff, had dinner at Hog's Breath, and headed to the airport. Kae did sleep for at least half of the journey back, so we managed to catch a nap too.

We sure miss Tiffany and Chester! Thanks to Edmund and Debby for their kind hospitality while we were in Perth!

Perth Trip day 6

We had to choose the chillier day to head to Cape Leeuwin.

Kae and myself were freezing when we were there, mostly due to the chilly winds. But dar loved the weather. Hah. He should not be living in Singapore. We spent just less than half hour there, though we drove for nearly 2 hours to reach there. We did not take the lighthouse tour. Don't think we can manage caryying Kae up, and don't think it's worth it anyway.

After Cape Leeuwin, we bummed around Margaret River town area. There was nothing much to do really. Our last stop before we headed back to the resort was to Simmo's Ice-cream at Dunsborough. Apparently, this place is quite well-known for their ice-cream at Margaret region. But I thought that it was just so-so, nothing fantastic.

We decided to end our last night at Margaret with dinner at our resort restaurant. Food was great actually! One thing about Perth is that their pasta dishes are all quite fusion-tasting. Nothing like what we get in Singapore. I don't really dig that. But a change is quite refreshing.

Perth Trip day 5

It was the busiest day for us in the Margaret region. We had a lunch reservation at Leeuwin Estate, so we set off early to visit 2 shops along the way.

1st stop, Margaret River Chocolate Factory. It's kinda a must to buy chocolates from this region. Hah. Something about the dairy products used for the production. And they do taste good. How bad can chocolates taste you might say?

2nd stop, Candy Cow. Apparently, they are known for their honey comb/crunch. And we waste no time in buying their most "potent" dose of the sweet!

And lunch at Leeuwin Estate. This is quite an established vineyard in the Margaret region, not to mention one of the biggest. So we decided to try their lunch there, as it was recommended through hearsay, and lonely planet, hah! And I was quite happy with the lunch! Although we are paying lunch at dinner prices, the food was well worth the monies. The restaurant itself was on the 2nd level. And considering that we were there on a Monday, the place was quite packed for a lunch crowd.

We made 2 more stops after lunch.

The Berry Farm was not on my itinerary, but as we had ample time on our hands, 1 more stop wouldn't hurt. Their jams are really very sweet!

The Fudge Factory was the last stop of the day. This shop doesn't seem as impressive as the Chocolate Factory, so actually you can give this shop a miss if you didn't have the time. Hah.

Perth Trip day 4

We left Joondalup for the Margaret River region on day 4.

It took us about 3 and 1/2 hours (including a car stop along the way) to reach Bunker Bay, where our resort, Quay West Resort, is situated. We know of this resort through a friend's friend who stayed there previously. And we love it. The room is spacious and nice. The resort is just minutes walk to the beach. The whole place is actually quite romantic. Quite suitable for a couple's retreat.

Some shots of the room:

Some shots of the view in front of our lake view villa:

And we love the beach! Although we went there just once in our 3 nights stay there. Hah!

And the pool view was fantastic!

By the time we reached the villa, it was late and we spent the rest of the day just exploring the resort and driving out to Dunsborough, which is 11km away for some grocery shopping and dinner hunting. The shops all close at 430-5pm!
