L'Espresso with the gals

I met up with the gals for English high tea today. We finally headed to L'Espresso located at Goodwood Park Hotel. We had wanted to go there on a few occasions, but somehow didn't get down to it.

Okay, I know I am fat. I look damn fat here lor! Back to the food, the food was not too bad I think. The foie gras sandwiches are my fav, plus the scones (plain and blueberry), and their dessert. It costs more than the tea set I had at TWG, so it is definitely worth making reservations for. Yummy yummy. But bear in mind, as this is just a afternoon tea, some might think that the variety is not that fantastic, compared to the afternoon tea spread at say Equinox. But hey, it's good enough for me! I will head back there just for the scones and foie gras sanwiches anytime. Haha!

Night's off at CM-PB

Kae spent a night over at Bishan tonight, and we took the chance to go for dinner. Yes, finally a night's off! The main reason for the sleep over is to let Kae get used to sleeping at Bishan without us so that I need not worry about her when me and dar have to stay at the hospital when baby K comes along.

We headed to CM-PB for our night's off. It's actually short for Contemporary Melting-Pot and Bar, located at Dempsey Road, block 7. I've heard of this place as Jack and Rai performs there on certain nights. It's quite a nice place to chill out with a group of friends over beer. Just that I can't drink now. Hah! Their food is not too bad, but maybe a tad too salty for some. Dar had the foie gras burger while I had their seafood marinara. Mine was quite delish actually. And I won't complain about having some foie gras! Dessert brownie with ice-cream was so so, and they actually serve TWG tea! Pardon the pictures, taken with the iPhone with very minimal light, hence the super bad outcome.

Quite a nice place to hang other than the other shops at the main Dempsey area. Will definitely return for more after the birth!

a try at TWG

I finally got to try out TWG today.

I met up with Joanne today and decided to finally try the food and tea at TWG. The last time we were there with the 2 babes, so it was kinda hard to get seats, as the place was too cramp for 2 strollers. So we decided to give the place another go.

We waited for like 10 minutes on a weekday afternoon. Yes, the seating capacity at TWG is rather pathetic, plus the fact that they have to use those bulky European chairs, which doesn't help one bit. Anyway, I was rather excited about the food there, mainly the foie gras sandwich (!) and their macarons, as I've read reviews that they ain't too shabby.

Well, I had their celebration set, which consists of a pot of TWG tea, 3 finger sandwiches, 2 muffins or scones or 1 patisserie and 3 macarons. Yes, I kinda finished all the food, except for the muffin. Hah! I am that greedy!

I thought overall, their food was alright. I would return for their tea (I had their Vanila Bourbon tea) and sandwiches (foie gras!) and macarons (Napoleon Tea & Caramel, and Earl Grey & Chocolate thank you) but please skip the scones and muffins. But I wouldn't queue up for more than 10 minutes to pay for the pricey food there. A once in while indulgence is good enough.

And now I am craving for foie gras.

Confinement food

I am not having a confinement nanny this time round, and one of my main reasons for this decision is that I cannot stand the fact that my whole house will stink of oil and food during the one month when she cooks the confinement food.

So, I need to cater my food for that one month. And I gave Natal Essentials a trial run. I was searching through the websites, and found that this was actually recommended by a lot of mummies.

And the food did not disappoint! The portions were huge; can feed 2 persons easily! I couldn't finish the food obviously. I had the stir fried kidney with lean meat and fungus, broccoli with chinese mushroom, and fish tail cum papaya peanut soup. I especially lurved the first dish. Yums! Come to think of it, I lurve confinement food then. To me, it taste like normal food coupled with yummy sesame oil and ginger (though I don't like it when there's too much ginger). Plus the fact I get to eat kidneys! Heehee.

Oh and they provide the red date tea too, which I don't really fancy since 2 years ago. Hah!

Theodore is one month old

We attended Theodore's 1st month bash at Pete's Place located at Hyatt today.

Theodore is the darling of my friend whom I've known since primary school. I am quite bad with babies; I still cannot figure out who he resembles more, the mummy or the daddy. And I just realized that I forgot to take a good shot of the boy of the hour! Argh! Hope he likes the present that we got for him. Kae has the exact toy too. Heehee!

Oh, this is the happy mummy Amy with Theodore! I lurve how this photo seems to centre around the happy mummy and baby.

And of course, I have to take a photo with them!

And also with another friend Peiying with her cutie pie Amber!

And Kae was so happy having her first macaron! Haha!

It seems so long ago when we all knew one another in primary and secondary school. Who would have thought then that one day, we would all become mums, and our kids will all get to know one another?

Fun in school

Kae seems to be having so much fun in school, as evident in the photos below taken by the teachers. She lurves to go to school. She has been home the past 3 days, as she's having a mild gastric flu. But every now and then, she will mention school, and her friends and her teachers. I am so glad that she has adapted to school life and is always looking forward to school. What a stark difference compared to her 1st month in school. Heehee.

10 weeks more to the finish line

I've got 10 more weeks to go before baby K arrives. But I seriously doubt I can last till then.

I am feeling the stretch in my belly. It's so taut that I can't eat at times even though I feel hungry. Nowadays I don't feel hungry actually. Maybe it's because there's no more place to store food in my stomach! But I still have to eat.

I've gained 7kg so far. And out of that 7kg, nearly 2kg was gained in the last 2 weeks. Damn. The number is going up exponentially now. I better watch what I eat. But I am so craving for sweet food. Sigh.

I cannot sit on the floor without feeling tight in the belly; I have to sit with my back upright. I can't pull myself up without grabbing onto something.

I feel tired all the time. I can sleep one whole day away. Seriously.

I am walking at a freaking slow pace. I am an old woman.

It really is a drag.

Random food thoughts

Last week, we went to various places for random food.

First stop, Kay Lee Roast Meat. I thought that the char siew was nice. The roast meat was average. The roast duck was quite tough though I lurve the skin. The best part of the meal I thought was their brewed soup! We ordered their pepper pig's stomach soup. It was divine! Can I just go back there for soup and not for their meat? Hee.

Second, Yong He Beancurd and You Tiao. I haven't been to this place since university days. And apparently, they've moved from Lorong 9 to Lorong 27A. So please take note! We actually circled around Geylang area 3 times before I searched on HungryGoWhere.com and discovered that they've moved.

Third, Koi Bubble Tea. It seems like there's been so much hype about this particular brand of bubble tea; there're always queues for this tea at the People Park's outlet. So, I decided to try this out when we headed towards Marine Parade; there's an outlet there too. We tried their Honey milk tea and Caramel milk tea. I lurve the latter. Although I won't join the long queue just to buy the tea. There was no queue at the Marine Parade outlet when we reached. Maybe because it was raining heavily!

Lastly, Hongkong dessert at Honeymoon Dessert at Vivocity. Apparently, this is a Hong Kong based chain, which established its first store in Sai Kung District of Hong Kong in 1995. As I was craving for dessert, we decided to give the place a try. I had the mango pomelo and sago sweet soup while dar has the coco mango tofu pudding. I thought both were great. But they would have tasted better if they had been more chilled. Also, the portion could have been bigger. But all in all, the standard is not bad compared to what we can get in Singapore currently.

And I am hungry now.

1st Zoo outing

We went to the Singapore Zoo on Monday.

Dar was on leave, and we decided to let Kae skip 1 day of school to bring her out for some fun. As when baby K comes along, it will be kinda tough to bring her out so often again. The main reason for bringing Kae to the zoo was because I wanted to bring her to the Rainforest Kidzworld.

The main attraction at the Rainforest Kidzworld to me is the water play area. Check out the pictures! Kae lurves to play with water. But she is quite the scardy cat. She doesn't dare to try anything new that looks intimidating. So daddy only walked around with her, played and splashed water with her, and the only thing she tried was the mini slide. Hah.

We were quite lucky on that Monday. Although it did rained for a while, we manage to not get caught in the rain and walked around the zoo. The zoo has changed so much! Erm, of course my last time to the zoo was when I was still in primary school. So go figure. Hah! I won't post any pictures of the animals here. But Kae was quite taken with the elephants. As she is now singing the elephant song constantly.

Kae's 1st official cut

Kae finally let the hairdresser cut her hair today!

The first time we asked Kae to let the hairdresser cut her hair, she wailed like mad. So, Kae's fringe had always been trimmed by my dad, as she only allowed my dad to go near her fringe. On this particular saturday, while dar had his hair cut, I persuaded Kae to have anothere go, as she was actually watching another older girl having her hair cut.

And viola! The main reason for her relenting this time round would definitely have to be the fact that she saw another girl having her hair cut. I was just awaiting with bated breath for the whole process to be over, so much so I didn't manage to get a picture of her having her fringe cut. Damn. Maybe next time.

And oh, Kae's haircut actually costs more than daddy's! Hah!

the Start of the Final leg

We went to the gynae today for my routine check up. I'm into my 27th week now and will be into my 28th week in 2 days time. Which means I'm into my 3rd trimester of the pregnancy. Baby K now weighs about 1kg.

PS: the top pic shows baby K's face, and the bottom shows her hands and feet.

I have no idea why, but this pregnancy seems to be longer than last time round. As in it seems like forever that baby K is in my stomach. Of course I do not want her to enter the world earlier; problems like jaundice and other complications (touch wood) may kick in. It just seems like I've been pregnant for the longest time.

And also, I've been experiencing Braxton Hicks like forever! The contractions always come at night when I sleep, and it can lasts for like minimum 30 minutes each time! Argh, I've never felt this uncomfortable the last time round.

People say that it's different the 2nd time round. As in you won't feel so anxious. You won't need to buy so many things for the new baby. You won't feel unprepared as you've been there and done that. But I am worried that I may be too complacent for my own good.

We still haven't settle the lack of our baby cot, if you've read my previous post on this pregnancy. And the baby room aka Kae's room is now a mess with all Kae's toys. Kae's wardrobe is already filled to the brim with Kae's clothes. And I haven't get down to washing baby K's clothes yet. Even though my edd is 26th June. I keep thinking that baby K wanna see the world earlier.

Hopefully, we will settle the baby room within the next week or so. And I do hope to clear some wardrobe space at the same time too. It's time to weed out the useless toys and clothes that my 2 K's will never wear (again)! Which means throwing of stuff! Yay! I lurve to throw junk away! Haha!

One major problem I foresee will be our sleep. Kae will be sleeping with us still while baby K will be made to sleep alone in the baby room. I wanna train baby K to be independent and not be like Kae, who needs to sleep with us. The problem is while tending to baby K's nightly feeds, Kae has to be looked after too, as she wakes nightly anytime between 3-5am for milk. Maybe I should increase her night dosage again. Sigh. I think I am in need of another super magical eye cream. And so does my dar, as I think he won't be sleeping well too, as Kae always whines for him at night when she wakes.

Also, no pacifier, no rocking of baby K. Kae is, sad to say, still looking for her pacifier every now and then, especially when she's sad. And I want baby K to fall sleep on her own without any rocking or swinging. No yao lan!
