Kae Spending

I just realised that we have been spending money all on Kae recently. The wall decal, the hairclipS, the 2 pairs of pediped shoes, 3 bottoms and 2 tops from Fox, 2 dresses from Bloom, a children floormat, 1 pooh and 1 piglet box each. All these items within 10 days. To me, it seems a lot, as I don't even buy more than 2 pieces of clothings within a month, or 1 pair of shoes within 2 months. It's hard to save when you have babies, more so baby girls. Heehee. And we are going to spend an amount for Kae's 1st year birthday; happening on 10th Jan 2009, at Coffee Club Siglap!

We really need to strike Toto and Lottery soon...

I Heart Kae's Hairclips and Pedipeds!

I have been buying hairclips for Kae. And most recently, 2 pairs of Pediped shoes for Kae; 1 to wear now and 1 for Chinese New Year. Haha. Yes, have been spending a bomb on my baby girl. But she's so sweet in her hairclips! Can you really blame me for wanting to dress my princess up? Bleah!

Room in Progress

We wanted to give Kaelyn a brand new room as her Xmas present. But as I had been sick (and am still sick) since Tuesday night, we didn't have time to go shopping for her mattress bed and playmat. We did manage to put up the wall decal today though.

And I think that it looks pretty nice! And Kae lurves it! Heehee. She lurves to touch touch the pictures. First phase complete. Next is to find a nice floor mat, dismantle the existing bed in the room, and find her a mattress bed.

Girls' Day Out

It had been a long time since we went to sing karaoke together. And we finally did, to celebrate Keddy's belated and Audrey's impending birthdays. And I realise that my stamina has really suffered due to lack of exercise now that I only have time for Kaelyn. Sigh. When should I start my 10km running regime again? Hmmm.

Happy Birthdays Girls!

13 years in the making

I attended a wedding dinner of a primary school classmate last night.

The wedding couple actually dated for 13 years! Yes, they've dated since they were 16 years old. I am sure they've had their share of downs, since it was mentioned in their mandatory speeches. But the point is, they've stayed together through all the turbulance (yes, the groom is a pilot :P) and are making a commitment to each other to remain together for the rest of their lives. That's something. And it is heartwarming to know that such first loves still do exist. Congrats again KJ!

Beachy beach

We went for a 1 night stay at Rasa Sentosa 18-19 Dec 08. We chose this hotel as it is the one nearest to Siloso Beach; we wanted to let Kae play on the beach.

The hotel was very old. We didn't get the newly renovated Executive Panaromic room as the staff advised that the room will not be big enough for the baby cot. At last, their baby cot is actually a playpen! I doubt that the playpen cannot be place in the Panaromic room. I think they were just bluffing. Hmmm. Also the room was so ancient that the controls for the air-conditioning and the lights were all at 1 side of the bed! The room didn't even have a comb, and no newspaper was given to us in the morning, until we called and asked for them. I am really wondering if the hotel is cutting costs, or if their service is really that bad! I will not go back to Rasa Sentosa ever. The only pro about this hotel is their fantastic seaview from the room; and that is why the rooms cost so much even though the hotel is one of the oldest on the mini island.

But we had fun at the beach! We found out that Kae doesn't like the sand by itself. She actually cried a bit after she explored touching the sand with her hands. But she loved to stand in the water with sand at her feet! She struggled when we took her out of the water. Haha.

Oh well, more beachy attempts to come!

oh Miki you're so fine

Kae and me met up with Mikaela twice this week.

The 1st was on wednesday when Cherine brought Miki to our place for their 1st playdate. The 2 babies had fun! Miki was walking all around the house, and feeding Kae biscuits the whole time! Heehee, how sweet of her:)

The 2nd was on friday when we met up with Clarice and Eli, Debbie, Cherine, Miki and Justin for dinner at Pasta Fresca Siglap. Dinner was good as was the company. The 2 babies delighted us the whole night. Pity Miki and family had to leave as she was drifting off to dreamland. The rest of us stopped for coffee at Starbucks Siglap.

It was a very good end to a friday night, especially so when we were chauffered back home in a brand new BMW 120i Cabriolet! :) I have to go out with Clarice more often! Haha!

Happy 11th month day Kaelyn!

Happy 11th month day Kaelyn! My Kae is now 11 months old! 31 more days to turning 1 year old; from a baby to a toddler! Heehee. Have decided on the venue to celebrate her birthday more or less, stay tuned! And now have to source for a birthday cake, and goodies for her little friends who will be there to celebrate with her!

Close up... finally!

We finally got down to applying a passport for Kae; finally took photos of her for the application! We've submitted the application online... but not sure if they will accept the photo. Hah. Guess which one we used? Not the middle one heh!

To Do or Not To Do

I always like to delay what I am suppose to do. That is one of my weak points. I lurve to procrastinate! Not sure when this bad habit of mine started, well, it's still in me! My to do list is now longer than ever!

1. To clear my store room
2. To clear my study room
3. To clear the baby's room and turn it into a nursery; buy playmat and wall decor
4. To buy me new spectacles and contact lenses
5. To colour my hair
6. To straighten my hair
7. To buy new year clothes and shoes
8. To go for a family photoshoot
9. To decide on Kae's 1st year party venue(s)
10. To change curtains
11. To install a window and door grill

Sigh...

Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells...

My favourite month of the year is here again. Yes, Christmas is coming. It's something about the air in December that makes me feel like holidaying, although now I am not working, and everyday is a holiday to me?

Anyway, this December is different for me in a few ways. First, it will be Kae's 1st Xmas! Well, she celebrated last year with us while she was still in my stomach. Haha. Wondering what to buy for her as her 1st Xmas present. Hmmm.

Oh and also, we will not be putting up our Xmas tree this year. Sigh, because Kae will just pull everything down! Maybe will get the tiny puny tree that is like what 20-30m tall, and just display it on the TV cabinet. I need my house to look Xmas to get in the Xmas mood at home!

And we will not be going overseas for holiday this year end. Time to save money! And also not much places we can go if we wanna bring Kae along. Instead, we are just going to stay 1 night at Rasa Sentosa. Chose this place as it's just at the beach so we can just bring Kae to nua there or at Cafe Del Mar. Pray for good weather! I always complain that every year we will miss Zoukout coz we are abroad. Well, we can go this year! Except that we've decided to have a bbq on the same night. Hiak. Doesn't matter, I don't fancy dancing around in the sand and sweating it out and squeezing with a huge bunch.

But some things just never change. Like the fact that even though the economy is bad at the moment, crowds still cheong the malls, and it is damn difficult to find a place for dinner in orchard; you can see long queues outside all the restaurants. My dar dar will be on his 2 weeks block leave soon! Heehee. Can hardly wait! And I tend to overspend during this festive period :p. Sigh. Need to stop signing up any pacakges! But I do need to get my Chinese New Year clothes and shoes! Yada yada. I will most probably end up just buying anything at the last minute on CNY eve again, as usual. What's new.

I lurve lurve lurve December!

Balloony Baby

Just discovered recently that Kae lurves to play with balloons! We knew she lurves to play with balls, but it never strikes us that balloons also make her giggle! Okie, think I will start to buy her new balloons when her current ones "diminish" :)

Heart Wrenching it is...

Although I do not know her personally, I am truly saddened over the senseless death of Lo Hwei Yen, as with the rest of Singapore. No one deserves such a fate. I cannot imagine how she must had been feeling then...

My sincere condolences to Ms Lo's family and friends, and may she rest in peace...

Happy Thanksgiving!

It is Thanksgiving today. This holiday is celebrated in the United States on the fourth thursday in November and most people celebrate by gathering at home with family or friends for a holiday feast. Thanksgiving was originally a religious observance for all the members of the community to give thanks to God for a common purpose. Although we do not celebrate this in Singapore, it just got me thinking of the things that I am thankful for:

People
- Being married to my husband. We've made a few roundabouts in life before we finally got together. Life has been blissful since.
- Kaelyn. She is my favourite baby girl! Heehee. And I am thankful that she did not give me a hard time during my pregnancy; No nausea, no discomfort of any sort, nothing!
- My family. We went through a tough patch when my mum was diagnosed with breast cancer. But she pulled through the treatments and is now living a normal life. 3 more years before the safe period :)
- My friends, whom I still keep in contact with, be it once a week, once a month, once a year, or once in a blue moon. You have played a part in my life, no matter how small, and I am grateful for that. There are so many (billions?) of people in the world, and yet our paths cross in one way or another.

& the Little Things in Life
- Being able to stay at home to look after Kae without worrying about making ends meet.
- Being able to afford the little luxuries in life without worrying about the credit card bill, like having foie gras 2 days in a row! Heehee :P
- Being able to gorge (literally!) on food while I am still pumping milk, heehee. Sigh, I have to watch my diet real soon as my supply is plunging!
- Having steamboat at Roxy Square when my parents take care of Kae on tuesdays!
- Watching re-runs of the Nanny and Friends on cable.
- That I am healthy (i think)!
- Getting back in shape so quickly after giving birth to Kae. Heehee. My pre-pregnancy bottoms are all now a bit loose for me!
- That there is so much yummie food around. Like the sashimi at Fish Mart Sakuraya Parkway, durian ice-cream at Scoopz Parkway, curry puffs at Tambuah Mas, donuts at J&Co, foie gras at Au Petit and Le Nicolas, Frogs' Leg porridge at Victoria Street, passion fruit meringue cake from the Patissier, pasta at Ristorante Da Valentino, etc etc.

And my list goes on... Will add on as and when...

What will your list of things to be thankful for be like? Happy Thanksgiving!

Oh what a Night!

22nd November 2008 was a night to remember.

I left Kaelyn to sleep overnight at my parents' place for the 1st time. She did sleep, but not throughout the night. According to my mum, she slept at her usual bedtime, 11 plus. But she woke up at 3am and refused to sleep. She finally slept before 5am, and woke up at 8am. She slept again at around 9am. I was hoping that Kae would be able to spend the night over at Bishan without much problems so that I can make it a regular thingy. Oh well, she will get used to it, *evil grin*.

Mummy and Kae before going off to Bishan:

The reason why i left Kaelyn overnight was because I wanted to go party! But alas, Aud, Jas and I ended up at Balaclava to chill; we still had a fantastic time! I think we don't have the energy anymore to dance the whole night.

It turned out to be a blessing in disguise. Why? Because there were shoe shops in Suntec for me to go to buy shoes, as my right shoe died on me! I only noticed that my strap broke after dinner. Heng ah, if we had gone to Clarke Quay as planned, I would be limping around in one shoe. This is the 1st time I've worn a shoe till the strap broke. And it happened to be my favourite pair; the one I bought for my ROM. Sob sob. In the end, I bought myself (another) RED pair. Heehee.

My favourite pair:

My new shoe!

Barclays Singapore Open 2008

This is our 3rd year attending the Barclays Singapore Open. As usual, we were there during the 3rd and 4th days, hanging out at the Barclays Pavilion, and following the flights for around 2 hours, before I succumb to the hot hot weather (only on the 4th day this year) and my aching feet.

We did not take any pictures of the players this year. Close up ones. The organiser had urged the public not to take any photos when they players are concentrating at their game. Well, I do find it irritating with sounds of any sorts when I am swinging. So out of respect for the game and the players, we didn't. There were a few idiots who used their SLRs to take shots of the players when they were driving. I said idiots as their SLRs are not exactly soundless, and they were like just 3 metres away from the tee off point. IDIOTS!

I was disappointed that Adam Scott did not even make the cut this year. It seems that he is not having a very good 2008. He is like ranked what, 18th now? Think he was like the top 5 golfers in the world previously.

And I was rooting for Harrington or Els to win. Sigh. Why did they have to miss their birdie putts? It would have been really exciting if they didn't and we would have an exciting 3 way face off. Oh well, there's always next year.

Meet Up with exUOB Peeps

Finally, ALL of us met up with one another after what seems like the longest time. Well, except that Kenny didn't stay long enough to meet up with Synyi and Derick. A great night of catching up with yummie food at Sun with Moon and not so tasty drinks at Borders Bistro. And I am now looking foward to my 1st cheonging session after donkey years with the gang on 22 Nov. Heehee.

Happy 10th month day Kaelyn!

Happy 10th month day Kaelyn! *muacks* 2 more months to turning 1 year old, mummy is now cracking her brains out as to how to celebrate for you :(

Shin's Cancer Blog

You might have noticed that I've added Shin's cancer blog to the list of webbies I am visting. I knew about her from this Channel 8 documentary aired a few days again.

Shin is suffering from advanced breast cancer. What drew me to her story? She seemed very strong in the documentary even though now her cancer had spread to her brain, lungs and liver. After reading through her blog, I was very intrigued by her never give up attitude towards her health and life itself.

Being a mother now myself, I always worry what if I am not around for my young baby. You see, my mum was diagnosed with Stage 2 breast cancer 2 years back. Having finished her chemo, she is now in the clear, but still on oral medication for 3 more years. I pray everyday that my mum will reach the 5 year "safe" mark soon.

I worry that I will somehow inherit this condition from her. More so now that I have a baby to care for. Breast cancer seems so "common" nowadays, so much so that it scares me. I've always respected the patients for being brave enough to face up to their condition, and for fighting to be alive for their loved ones. I wonder. What if. Will I be as brave. Will I be as tough.

Short Again!

I just cut my hair short again! Bob style. Wahaha. Without much persuasion from my hairdresser, just coz I was bored with my hair. I think this is easily the shortest I've had since my junior college year one days :)

of French Fare

Yum! I just had foie gras 2 days in a row! Heehee. Oohh, that's 3 times this month. I am feeling blardy unhealthy.

Anyway, I am adding Nicolas Le Restaurant to my list of favourite French eating places together with Au Petit Salut. Their foie gras is to die for! Pity I didn't manage to take any shots of the food that we've eaten at Nicolas as I thought no picture taking was allowed. Bleah! Never mind, there is always a next time! Right Ginny? Heehee.

At Nicolas Le Restaurant with Clarice and Ginny:

I heart Obaïbi

I've always lurve the French brand Obaïbi for baby clothes. But i haven't yet bought any clothing there for Kaelyn. Instead, I've bought a headband, and most recently, i.e, yesterday, bought the cutest cap I've seen! Hehehe. I think Kae looks darn cute in the cap.

I Lurve Obaïbi!

Happy 9th month day Kaelyn!

Happy 9th month day Kaelyn! *muacks*

3rd Year Wedding Anniversary weekend

We celebrated our 3rd year wedding anniversary at The Fairmont, including a nice dinner at Raffles Grill. Dinner was good, but of course we wouldn't have gone there if not for the Feed at Raffles card; it would have been too pricey! Overall it's nice, but I think Jaan is nicer, both the food and of course the ambience.

We also took time out to attend a friend's wedding lunch at Amara Sanctuary Sentosa.

I want another long weekend!
