Donuts

* This was originally posted on 30 March 2007 at http://annesoh.blogs.friendster.com/blahblahblahsss *

23 March 2007:

Okie, my craving for donuts was killing me. And since I have nothing to do in the day time, I might as well succumb to my taste bud and join in the donut craze.

As I read in other peoples' blogs, I went down to Raffles City , The Donut Factory, ready to queue for 3 hours max. I joined the queue just in front of the Nike shop at around 410pm. In my first 20 mins there, 2 people in front of me gave up, which is good news for me. Hah. But other than that, the queue didn't move much during the 1st hour. Lucky for me, I had my Ipod with me. And I was happily watching Sex & the City while waiting for my donuts.

2 hours and 30 mins later, it was finally my turn!!!!!! I bought the maximum of 2 dozens, 1 dozen glazed and 1 dozen assorted. It was 2 hours and 40 mins later when I left with my donuts at 650pm. So if you ever go to queue, use the Nike shop as a guide to how long you have to wait.

My verdict? Well, the donuts are not as sweet as Kripsy Kreme, and are very soft. But you really should reheat the donuts for maximum enjoyment.

小时候常常望着窗外的天空, 幻想长大以后能实现从前作过的美梦
长大后发现世界真的不同, 不知该要往哪走, 还是停在原地一动也不动
我无力再逃脱眼看着时间溜走, 想回到小时候

I wanna stay or stay away I wanna stay oh
最真最美丽的童年我
Stay I wanna stay or stay away

聼你讲你讲, 为什麽大汉之后世界拢变的不同, 是不是听到小时候的那条歌, 我的目屎就会直直流不离擦不离

Brand new year

* This was originally posted on 2 January 2007 at http://annesoh.blogs.friendster.com/blahblahblahsss *

And so, year 2007 has arrived with a bang; I was down with flu on the 1st day of the new year. How lucky am I.

Year 2006 was a blur to me. Why so. Hmm. I worked for a full 5 months before I said bye bye to my job, without a new job. Hah. I think i was very brave. Now, I am still not working. Hmm. Not that i am complaining. And for the last time, I am not a tai tai. I still do housework, and i do not have a maid, not even a part time maid. So there. I am a housewife, for now.

Somehow, it seems that someone up there has it all planned out. Right after I left the working world, my remaining time in 2006 has been plagued with hospital visits, followed by one passing on. I really hope my family members, frenz and relatives will be blessed with good health in the years to come. Sigh.

Hopefully, in this coming year, I will pick myself out from the big fat rut I am in now, and decide finally what I wanna do with my life. I still haven't figure it out.

Have a great year ahead my frenz.

New South Wales trip, 9-19 Dec 2006

* This was originally posted on 25 December 2006 at http://annesoh.blogs.friendster.com/blahblahblahsss *

As mentioned in my earlier post, I was at New South Wales 9-19 Dec 06. Technically, I was at the airport on 8 Dec to check in, as my flight was a midnight flight 9 Dec 06.

Our first stop was at Blue Mountains. We stayed at town Leura, which is just next to Katoomba. The highlight of our trip to Blue Mountains was the 3 Sisters at Katoomba, and Kings Tableland Lookout at Wentworth Falls. The view at the latter was magnificiant. Of coz the 3 Sisters Giant Stairway walk was freaking tiring.

After 2 nights at Blue Mountains, we drove all the way to Hunter Valley. Our 1st day at Hunter Valley was the hottest day we experienced in Aussie, a whooping 39 degree celcius. HOT! But that did not stop us from having a good time at the Storybook Garden at Hunter Valley Gardens. Heehee. All my childhood memories were relived.

Of course, why go to Hunter Valley if you are not drinking? Known for their wineries and vineyards, we had a great time tasting all their delicious wine. My favorite tasted was the Gewurz Traminer. It is white wine with a yummy tinge of lychee. And I usually dun like white wine. This goes very well with seafood, especially the fresh oysters I had. OOOOoooooooooooooo.
If you ever make a trip down to Hunter Valley and only have time to visit one vineyard, do go to Audrey Wilkinson Vineyard. It is the nicest one we visited.

Ooooh, and the hot air ballooning adventure we had was great! A bit steep though. Hah. We were in the air for 1 whole hour, and were also involved in the preparation and keeping of the hot air balloon. It was an unforgettable experience which we nearly missed as the weather was not ideal for ballooning for the day that we booked. We had to reschedule to the next day, which also was our last morning at Hunter Valley.

After 2 nights in Hunter Valley, we drove to Port Stephens, Nelson Bay. The seaview at Nelson Bay was surreal. Damn nice. Do visit One Mile Beach. Nicest beach I have seen. And it is not too crowded with tourists. Nice to just sit on the sand and daydream about waterfront living. Oh, and you simply must go for dinner at d'Albora Marina, where all the yachts and sailboats are docked. Simply relax and enjoy the fresh seafood there.

After 2 nights in Port Stephens, we drove to Sydney city, our last stop for the trip. We stayed at a fren's place for 3 nights, and spent our last night in Sydney at Hilton Hotel. One of my favourite place in Sydney is Bondi Beach. We took the long walk from Bondi to Bronte. More like hiking. Hah. So bloody tired. I dun think I have ever walked that long in my life. But the views were fantastic. Oh, and you simply must go to this pub cafe Bondi Icebergs. It's situated at the edge of the Bondi Beach. Simply magnificiant views to take in while you are having your beer or meals.
Oh, and the sashimi at the Sydney Fish Market was yummy and fresh! Nothing like what we have in Singapore. Sigh. I miss the fresh salmon.

The people in Sydney love to drink! They are all out drinking by noon on Fridays. Hah. Also, all their nice eating restaurants come with a drinking bar area. Amazingly, they are also packed like hell, and we ended up waiting and drinking at the bar area for one and half hour before we can finally get down to dinner.

Nice place to go to for a trip. Heh. But I can't live there. No sizes of clothes and shoes for me to buy. Heh.

Bus Cafe

* This was originally posted on 15 November 2006 at http://annesoh.blogs.friendster.com/blahblahblahsss *

I cannot stand some kids nowadays. Whenever I take public buses, there will always be kids with their music handphones, blasting the songs out for everyone to hear, without their bloody hearing aid! Why can't they listen to their music quietly sticking the ear plugs into their ears, instead of thinking the bus is a cafe, where they can talk loudly, amidst blasting Jay Chou songs from their stupid phone devices? I dun mind that it's Jay Chou (i love Jay Chou!!!!!), but that is not the point.

Kids nowadays irritate the hell out of me. Think I am getting older. Or I should just stop taking buses altogether.

How to Save a Life

* This was originally posted on 12 November 2006 at http://annesoh.blogs.friendster.com/blahblahblahsss *

How to save a life

Step one, you say we need to talk. He walks, you say sit down it's just a talk. He smiles politely back at you, You stare politely right on through. Some sort of window to your right. As he goes left and you stay right. Between the lines of fear and blame, And you begin to wonder why you came.

Where did I go wrong? I lost a friend somewhere along in the bitterness. And I would have stayed up with you all night, Had I know how to save a life.

Let him know that you know best, Cuz after all, you do know best. Try to slip past his defense, Without granting innocence. Lay down a list of what is wrong, The things you've told him all along. And pray to God he hears you.

As he begins to raise his voice, You lower yours and grant him one last choice. Drive until you lose the road, Or break with the ones you've followed. He will do one of two things. He will admit to everything, Or he'll say he's just not the same, And you'll begin to wonder why you came.

Watching Golf, really

* This was originally posted on 9 September 2006 at http://annesoh.blogs.friendster.com/blahblahblahsss *

I've just went to watch Round 3 of the Barclays Singapore Open 2006, held at the Sentosa Golf Club. Held over 4 days, the Barclays Singapore Open is a full field event on the Asian Tour which features a maximum field of 150 players. This is what I've learnt from 6 hours of being in the hot hot sun:

(1) Apply Sunblock on any part that is not covered by clothing. I always put on loads of sunblock when I play golf on the greens myself, but it never did occur to me to apply sunblock when I go to watch other people play golf! Awwwk. So now, I am as red as a lobster. Need to buy new dresses that won't show my lines for the upcoming wedding dinners. Sigh.

(2) Wear golf attire, or very thin cloth. It was freaking hot yesterday. I was wearing a spaghetti top and 3/4s pants. And I was still sweating like mad, buckets and loads. I don't even perspire that much when I run on the threadmill for 45 minutes! Next time, I am gng to wear shorts and a tank top instead. If I could, I would wear a bikini top. Hahah.

(3) Wear golf shoes, or any comfy shoes that cover your whole feet. Walking the 18 holes is different from playing the 18 holes. I don't feel tired at all playing the 18 holes. But walking the 18 holes is bloody exhausting. In addition, you have to squeeze with hundreds of people who are eager to push their way through to watch their fav players. Walking along the long strands of grass doesn't help to prevent the itch either.

(4) If you have long hair, tie them. I forgot to bring my rubber band and I had to depend on the hat to hold my hair together.

5) Bring a cap or hat. They are particularly useful in blocking the rays off my precious face. My whole body was red, but thankfully, my face was spared.

(6) Shades? This is up to you. But if you wear shades, maybe you should consider wearing a cap/hat too. My dar was wearing just shades (as he has to give up his hat to me), and he now has slightly paler circles around his eyes, compared to the rest of his face.

(7) Drink loads of H2O/beer. My first beer after Hole 4 was D-I-V-I-N-E.

(8) Adam Scott looks like Prince William! A much much cuter version too. Heh. See his side view. He's my fav golf player now, and is currently the world's number six. He's also the defending champion, being the winner for the Singapore Open 2005. And his back view is the closest I can get. Hah.

Uglieeeeeeee

* This was originally posted on 30 August 2006 at http://annesoh.blogs.friendster.com/blahblahblahsss *

i was alighting a bus yesterday evening. It was raining very heavily yesterday remember. Anyway, I FELL! Think the floor was slippery. My left foot was on the ground, and when I attempt to pull my right leg off the bus to the ground, I fell! & guess what, nobody bothered to pull me up! Just watched happily and walk away all the F****Rs. It is not as if I was walking along a road and fell, and there was no1 nearby to offer their assistance. I was practically in people's way in front of the area where they alight the bus. And they all just walk around me and continue with their pathetic lives. How ugly can people get.

I should have just put out my foot and trip all of them.

I miss...

* This was originally posted on 18 July 2006 at http://annesoh.blogs.friendster.com/blahblahblahsss *

I miss being young, when we were ignorant, innocent and naive, and carefree of worries, burdens, & liabilities.

I miss my primary school childhood, when we will all walk, hop & skip to & from school together, when we all (from different classes) know one another and say hi bye to one another, when we all play together after school.

I miss my secondary school period when netball was my love, when we are growing up to discover the opposite sex in other schools, when we all thought that the good 4 years will never end, when we go orchard shopping in netball skirts, when not much homework was done, when we laughed and cried together, when we thought that we will all stay together as close frenz forever.

I miss my junior college days when we were new to the class, when we really felt grown up, when we will skip the first few lectures to go for breakfast together, when we copied each other's work in Physics Lab classes, when we realise that this is the first step in stepping into university, when we realise that we have to work hard for the A Levels, when we would go back to school on saturdays to revise our work in the study room, when our hearts go thud thud thud when we receive messages from the person that we have a crush on, when we could talk to that someone throughout the night till day break without feeling tired, when we realise that we could be falling in love, when we realise that we could get our hearts broken.

I miss the post junior colleage and pre uni days when we would go party a few times a week, when we would be wooed by a few guys at any one time, when we first get the taste of working full time for six months, when we get the taste of spending our hard earned money, when we first broke the hearts of a few good men.

I miss the uni days when we start to feel independent, when we get used to staying outside our own homes, when we sleep in, when we go to school in berms and slippers, when we can do what we want and go where we want in our own terms, when we get our hearts broken for the first time.

I miss the days of my first job, when we are introduced proper into the cruel working society, when we discovered that work is what we are going to do till we die, when we take on the responsibilty of our career path, when we learn that not all colleagues are your friends, when we still can go pubbing twice a week during the first few months of training, when we hang out together everyday and grumble about the daily ramifications of our stressed out day, when we realise that we won't be together in the same company forever.

I miss those days.

My Love for Foie Gras

* This was originally posted on 8 July 2006 at http://annesoh.blogs.friendster.com/blahblahblahsss *

Have started to love this dish recently. Foie Gras (pronounced as fwä grä) is a pate made from goose liver (marinated in cognac) and truffles.

My first real attempt of this delicacy was not at all pleasant. It was at the Annual Raffles Hotel Wine, Food & Arts Experience 2005, The Cuisine of Jacques & Laurent Pourcel with the Wines of Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé. I was like, eeekkwwwws, what's this weird tasting food. I didn't even finish it. But somehow, I was intrigued by this weird taste.

Soon after, whenever we happen to dine at places which serves this dish, I would tend to order this, although not everytime, as it is a really small portion of liver at a high price.
My favourite Foie Gras would be the ones served at Au Jardin. Their appetizer selection is to die for. They serve in 4 different versions on one plate: foie gras caramel custard, salt cured foie gras, roasted foie gras & mango, duck rillettes & foie gras terrine.

Just had my dose of foie gras yesterday at the Sun with Moon Japanese Dining & Cafe. Not super duper fantastic. But on the bright side, my craving for goose liver was cured temporarily. For the time being that is....

ps: my last goose liver was on 1 oct 2006 at il lido.... so loooong ago...

pss: the foie gras (duck liver) at Au Petit Salut is to die for! large serving too :)

Okay, disclaimer: I just had 1 pint of Hoegaarden at Wala Wala Cafe Bar.

Hi Lois! Heehee. Sorry, didn't go over to say bye bye. Too crowded lah. BTW, you know the singer? Great singing there.

How Time flies

* This was originally posted on 19 June 2006 at http://annesoh.blogs.friendster.com/blahblahblahsss *

How time flies. I am 27 this year. Damn it. Old. And I just celebrated my 1st year ROM anniversary over the weekend. I ROMed on 18 June 05 at the Fullerton Waterboat House.

Here's a thought. I wonder how many anniversaries other people celebrate a year. For eg, I ROMed on 18 June 05, had my traditional wedding on 3 Oct 05. So do we celebrate every 18 June or 3 Oct? Heehee. Both days yah. Just an excuse to get more prezzies from my poor hubby.
For me and my poor dar dar, the most terok period for us is Dec 25 to March 10. Becoz: Dec 25 is for Xmas, Feb 10 is when we started to date officially, Feb 14 is Vday, Feb 16 is his birthday, and Mar 10 is my birthday. I get 4 prezzies & 4 nice nice dinners in 3 & 1/2 months?! Muahaha. How broke can 1 person get? Then Jun 18 is our ROM anniversary, and Oct 3 is our wedding anniversary. On top of these dates, we usually would make a point to eat nice nice meals on every 10th of EACH month. A bit too much on the wallet right?

Also, it does becomes a headache when coming to prezzie time. What can I get? I've bought practically everything you can get for your bf/hubby, i.e. watch, belt, wallet, shirt, cuff links, etc. Argh. Out of ideas. Ladies, I am sure you know what I am talking about. But funny leh, my hubby always manage to buy me new stuff. Wahaha. Think I got to be more creative.

But the thing is, I am not good at knitting, sewing, cooking, making things in general.... sigh... tough tough....

sigh. me sick again. down with migraine. and keep feeling like vomiting (& no i am NOT pregnant), feverish, and flu coming. Doc says I am TOoooooooooo stressed....

Finally, went to zouk! havent been there since ages. first time seeing zouk since their reno last year. quite cool actually. i feel so koo koo. haha.

got to know that someone distant who is married is seeing other gals. quite distressing really. why do pple take their marriage do lightly nowadays. well, apparantly the wife is the one who is neglecting the guy, and is having 2nd tots abt the marriage, tats why it is no surprise that the guy is flinging. i am not commenting on who is right or wrong. It is juz sad to know that pple stray after taking the sacred vows of marriage.

am sick. running a high fever, so wat i am gng to pen here might juz be disillusioned tots of my otherwise "char ta" mind..i love marriage life. cept the household chores, all is great. living in our own house, juz the 2 of us, gng ard in our car, need not report to parents on wat time we coming home, etc, u get the pic.

and most of my frenz are getting married. so happy for them! Ker-Yang, sorry I was sick and missed yr wedding, best wishes to u and adeline! Debra just got married, and she was such a beautiful bride! :) House warming soon? :)

anyways, was thinking abt my life before and after marriage. before marriage, or even preparation for the wedding, i used to hang out wif my frenz. but now its seems that we dun meet up as much when one by one, all are getting hitched. why. the only frenz that i meet up with, no offence, are my not hitched yet frenz. are they more "free" to meet up with frenz rather than spend another day with their other half? no i dun think so. they make an effort to meet up with pple other than their bfs. dun understand. and its across the board. or is it juz up to the individuals?

my hubby, he still meets up with his frenz. and his frenz are mostly married and some are already with children no less.

it may be just me. it can be a bit frustrating when you are the only one who keeps trying to keep the friendship gng by organizing gatherings which magically will not have even a 80% turnout initially, and then the % goes down to 50%, and juz be called off.
but then again, i am glad that they have all found the love of their lives!

see, warned u guyz tat i am penning crap here. ooohhhhhhhhhhhh.. my head hurts...

* This was originally posted on 3 January 2006 at http://annesoh.blogs.friendster.com/blahblahblahsss *

Alrighty, this post honeymoon trip blog is long over due!
I went to Switzerland, Paris and London (in tat order), and was away for abt 19 days. Yup, 19 days of nua-ing, eating, shopping, and awwww-ing. :)

My fav has to be Switzerland. The pple are friendly, the view is superb, the exchange rate is easier on the wallets. The view oh the view. The snow falling, the whole town is covered in white. Very Xmasy indeed.

Why is Singapore so boring. haha. It would fun with the four seasons. We can get to dress up in winter clothes. heehee. REally quite fun. Not to mention that it was freezing cold! Went up to the moutains top. Really top. Look at me in the picture.. It was -20 degree celsius!! I thought I was gng to faint of cold. But it was an experience of a lifetime!

Paris is alright. The only thing I love abt Paris is Effiel Tower, and of coz the cheaper LV goods! heehee... The ET looks damn pretty at night! No wonder they call it the city of love. But when it comes to the morning, no biggie deal. Coz the ET is actually made of metal. Yes, a whole tower of steel. Quite ugly actually. And the LV prods are like 30% cheaper! woohoo. Plz do let me know if you r gng to Paris :)

We spent a total of like 10 days in London. All for the sake of catching an EPL match in Fulham London. Yup. Was at the Chelsea Wigan football match on 10 Dec 2005, behind the soccer post. The English are really into the teams they support. Its like gng to a school excursion for the football fans. They sing the club's songs, cheering for them every like 1 minute, jeering at the opposition team whenever they have a slight chance to advance ahead, and of coz cursing and swearing at any player who seems to be not kicking with their best foot forward.

So sad when coming back. I wanna go on long trip again! ....

I cannot wait!!! okie.. 7 more days to my long awaited trip to Europe... a breather from the hectic working days, no more sleeping late, waking early, sitting all day in the office... well.. at least for abt 3 weeks :) But in the meawhile.. gotta get through this week.. tough tough tough week... *sigh*

It's quite ex actually.. the trip is 12 days and it costs us ard $7k plus.. we are extending our stay by 7 days.. and it comes up to $10k plus including the accomodation for the extra stay... and i havent even began with the daily expenses there, shopping expenses, eating expenses, buying of presents, admission expenses, etc etc... argh. I am officially living on nothing when I come back..
Can't wait to see snow! It'll be my first snow experience. heehee. and will also be gng to my first soccer match. yay. think will be watching one of the chelsea home matches. With wiggen? (did i spell correctly, hahaha) keep a lookout for me! apparantly, I'll be sitting behind the goal post. Yes. where pple wave like mad when the player is doing a penalty kick.

But what really excites me is gng to Paris!!! i wanna shop in paris! (think I've been watching too much sex n the city).. however, the recent chaos in paris now worry me. hopefully, they will quieten down by the time i get there. if not, will be so sad. gng to paris is the highlight of my honeymoon for me... *cross fingers*

Let's all pray for peace. Scary to even imagine what the world will be like in ten years.

Okay, this post is long over due... by like 2 weeks less 1 day...

Yes, for those who were around with me on 3rd Oct.. a Big Thank you! esp to my sisters, Clarice, Ginny, Synyi, Audrey n Keddy.. Thanks for being "on time" heehee. I am not good with words.. but i appreciate your help rendered on that working day, thanx for taking leave off work, and to Aud, thanx for starting on your new job one day later :P

Had mixed feelings after the wedding:
I already went thru this on June 18, when we had our ROM at Bacchus Wine bar at the Fullerton Waterboat House. That was more fun. As it was en evening thing, with only 60 plus guests : immediate family and close frenz. A smaller crowd was easier to manage. We had more time to interact, and I mean REALLY TALK to our own frenz. Had time to entertain them, drink, eat and make merry with them. That was fun! So when it comes to 3rd Oct, it felt like a repetition. Only that we have half the time to manage like 5-6 times the number of guests... and I DID NOT get to talk at all to my frenz and colleagues. Zit, Nil. The time was spent marching in and out, taking fotos with all tables, and with faces i dunno. smiling at the camera, until my jaws hurt. Trying to eat as much as I can. No fun here. None at all. It's more like a process that I have to go thru to be known officially as Mrs Yeo.

Was quite sad that I did not have time to take fotos with all my frenz and colleagues: not able to capture the happy moment in my life with pple who were there to celebrate my next phase in life.

Was quite sad that pple who mattered to me, did not turn up for my wedding. Sometimes I think (disclaimer here: this is only for certain pple, not all, so pl dun take this personally): are they really not in singapore, have another wedding dinner to attend (mine was on a monday for crying out loud!), last minute got meeting, appt they simply muz attend, if not they will get fired, or they simply bo-chup, and just cook up some cock and bull story to get out of giving ang pow and avoid having yet another slow boring eating experience (its end of year : a lot of wedding dinners!). Are they not my frenz? Or have i placed them too near my heart in my frenz catergory? Maybe it's time to re-think about their position. This brings me to another thought: How many frenz do we actually have?

Was very touched by the speech my hubby made for me. For those who were there, werent you? I cld never muster the courage to say so many thanks in front of a large audience, not even mentioning abt professing my love for the love of my life. Thanks dar.

Towards the end of the night, during the traditional shaking of hands and saying bye byes, i tried to take as many fotos as the queue for hand shaking allows me to.. Again, not able to take with each and every one... argh.

Notwithstanding the above, I had fun. And I will definitely miss the whole process of choosing a life partner n soulmate, choosing the gown, the ROM venue, the hotel, the photo-taking (the wedding album). And of course, we all hope to go through this one process only once in our lives. To my dear gal frenz, esp, Debbie, Debra, Cherine, Ked, Aud and Synyi, who are embarking on this same journey starting from Nov with Ked first, enjoy the whole process.

Quite sad really when it's all over. There are the bills to pay. and the responsibilities etc. But that's another story altogether.
