Ippudo at Westgate

After our trip to the Science Centre as blogged, we drove to Westgate to settle our dinner. Super early dinner at 530pm at Ippudo. And we got the last table at this time.  The queue grew snakily long by the time we were done at 630pm.

Their beer was real nice! Malty and smooth. Oh boy, I need to quench my thirst now!

Gyoza was so so. I wouldn't order this again if I were to head there.

I felt that the standard of the ramen at the Westgate outlet is not as good as the standard of the ramen at the Mandarin Gallery outlet. Maybe it is just me. Dar had the Akamaru Chashu, while I shared 2 bowls of Shiromaru Tamago with the girls.

With a huge selection of ramen shops now in Singapore, I wonder why there is still a long queue for Ippudo. Ippudo's standard is comparable to the other shops yes, but much pricier. Oh well, maybe it's the brand.

Discovering Singapore Science Centre

We brought the girls to somewhere me and dar have not been to in ages. The Singapore Science Centre. Our main purpose was to get the KidsStop membership at a promotional rate of $30 per child for 2 years instead of their usual $30 per child for a year. And since the girls have not been there before, we decided to take a look inside the Science Centre.

It was quite an enjoyable afternoon. We spent about 4 hours within the premises, just walking around and browsing through their stations. And another hour at the McDonald's just at the entrance for a quick snack. And since it was the school holidays, there were craft stops along the way and the kids get to make their own simple craft.

Since entry charges apply, the Science Centre wasn't as crowded as I thought it would be. A good place to revisit with your kids.

Ichiban Boshi Revisited

We had to settle our own dinner tonight after the girls' enrichment classes at United Square as the hub had something on. So the girls (yes, they decided what to have) decided to head to Ichiban Boshi for dinner.

I can't remember the last time I had dinner there. Must have been donkey years ago. The girls enjoyed their udon noodles.

I just had to order the lobster hand roll. Me and dar always ordered that when we ate there during dating days.

I was quite disappointed by the quality of their sashimi though. Not fresh and some tasted like they were not thawed properly!

E-Sarn Thai Cuisine

I've always wanted to try their food, and since the girls were not with us tonight, me and dar took the chance to have dinner at E-Sarn Thai Cuisine located at The Grandstand after my yoga class.

I ordered a bowl of Seafood Tom Yum soup and a bowl of red rubies for dessert. I find their Tom Yum soup a tad sweet. And I love their red rubies, though I wish the portion can be a tad bigger.

Dar had the set dinner which consisted of a plate of spring rolls, a bowl of chicken noodle soup, a drink and a scoop of coconut ice-cream. Not too bad for the price of $10-ish.

Lucky Tuesday

I met up with dar for a last minute lunch date, and we managed to snag seats at Koh Grill & Sushi Bar. But as always, be prepared to wait for a minimum of 20 minutes for your food. Food is good as always!

~~~~~
And we were walking to Takashimaya Golf Section when we saw a long long queue outside Ferragamo. Yes, finally their sale is on! But I did not receive their mailer this time round. Hmmm. But as the queue was too long (as expected), I decided to forgo the sale and went on for my eyebrow appointment at Shu Umera. After I was done, I decided to head to Isetan and try my luck. As luck would have it, there was no queue, and even though there were quite a lot of people in the store, it was not as crowded as the stores at Takashimaya and Ion (where I passed by afterwards).
And as luck would have it, I was able to snag my favorite peach colored varina flats which I have been eyeing and waiting the sale for, and a pair of sissi wedges. Woohoo! So lucky that I decided to meet dar for lunch in town today!
Loom halted
I think I am really rough on things. See what happened to my rainbow loom hook! Argh!
Week full of gifts
It must have felt like Christmas week for the girls as they've received new items from us almost every day this week!
Monday: new kicks for the girls. Bought a pair of Keds and Crocs for Kae, and a pair of Pedipeds for Kerri.
Tuesday: Not Too Big was having their clearance sale, and I managed to buy apparels for the girls at real decent prices! 4 Milk on the Rocks items at $10 a piece, and 8 Joules items (including 6 dresses) at 50% off!
Wednesday: Their frozen bags arrived and they were absolutely delighted!
Thursday: Some apparel from Cotton On Kids.
Friday: The loot I ordered from Disney.com finally arrived! It all started out with me trying to get hold of the Frozen figurines for Kerri's birthday cake. And then the girls saw the website and decided they wanted some soft toys as well. And then I decided they should have some princess costumes and so I ordered a Belle and Sofia costume for Kerri and Kae respectively.
Kerri's Belle costume fit her just fine! But Kae's Sofia costumes was simply too wide for her. I could even squeeze the dress in! Argh.
And then on Saturday, I decided the girls need a pair of running shoes, and we braved through the huge crowd at Takashimaya (as there was a store wide additional 10% discount off for card members) and bought them their first running shoes!
Lunch at Restaurant Ember
I met up with Aud, Ked and D for lunch at Restaurant Ember today.
Their menu was super impressive. 6 choices from each category to choose from. But be warned, by the time we ordered, which was slightly after 1pm, 2 of the 6 selections for the main course were sold out, namely the tenderloin and the cod.
I love their bread. I think it was some tomato herd bread. Freshly baked with goodness.
For my starter, instead of my usual foie gras choice, I chose their pan roasted scallop with parma ham, citrus and tarragon vinaigrette. Yummy!
My choice for the mains was the pan seared Chilean seabass with mushroom and smoke bacon ragout, in truffle yuzu butter sauce. I love this dish! But somehow, the seabass tasted simply like a cod fish to me.
Dessert was the warm valrhona chocolate fondant with vanilla ice-cream. I finished this within minutes!
The original head chef left just recently in end April I think, and after this meal, I think the regulars should be pretty satisfied with what the new head chef has done for the place. I hope to be back real soon!
Child Labor
My girls are the exact opposite. One dreads to carry her bag after a while, complains of tiredness and pain, while the other simply just can't carry enough. Faint.
