about the little Tigress

It's been 10 weeks since Kerri came into this world. But it seems like forever to me.

There was once I smsed Dar: "Kerri is sent by God to torture me. Since the day she was born."

Okay, that might have sounded too harsh. But I have my reasons.

First, she made me go through the birth without epidural. The laughing gas was of not help since I could still feel the pain. And the pain was really unbearable. Don't judge unless you've been through the birthing process. Please take note that I am one who cannot tolerate pain. I am terrified of injections, and even refuse to learn cycling and blading all over again as I fear to fall.

Secondly, she is very fierce. When she wants her milk, she wants her milk. The moment she decides that she's hungry, she will wail the house down without giving us even 5 minutes to heat up her milk.

Thirdly, she can't be alone and be still. She needs someone to be at her beck and call. She needs someone to talk to her to keep her entertained. She needs to be carried when she's bored with your attempts to distract her.

Fourth, she sleeps late at night. I would be considered very lucky if I can sleep by 2am nightly. Usually she'll sleep at 2am. Meaning she'll be sound asleep and not wake up every 2-3 minutes fidgeting. After she sleeps, I'll pump milk and pack Kae's school bag, and by the time I'm done with the pumping, packing, washing, it's 3am. So I'll sleep at 3am, and Kerri will wake once before 7am to drink milk. I need to wake at 7am to prepare Kae for school. After Kae leaves the house by 730am, I need to pump milk again. I'm considered damn lucky if I can get 4-5 hours of interrupted sleep daily. I wonder how long more before my body starts to break down.

Sleep in the day when she sleeps then one might say. It's almost impossible to do that. As I've mentioned, she fidgets a lot when she's napping. So I have to be around to rock her. It seems like she knows that I'm not around and if I leave her alone and she'll wake. Also, I need to do my other stuff when she sleeps, like pumping of milk, eating of my lunch, toilet breaks, surfing of the internet, etc. After I'm done with whatever I'm doing, she'll automatically wake from her nap. Hence, I don't have the luxury to snooze with her in the day.

I dunno. It may seem like I've no patience with Kerri. I'm put to shame by a friend who mentioned in her blog that she wants and is trying to be the best mother to her son.

Maybe I'm complaining too much. Maybe it's because Kae was easier to care for previously. Kerri's just a baby. She can't help the way she is. And I lurve my daughter yes. But it's been rather straining for both me and my dar. Yes, he has been helping out in every way he can. And it is quite tiring for him to care for the kiddos too at night, since he needs his rest for work the next day.

Let's wait and see how things go. Hopefully, the situation will improve.

Passing time

I've been playing this game on the iPhone the past week or so.

Wedding Dash
. Yes. I played this (the free version) before when I first bought the iPhone, but now that there's an new look to the game, I decided to purchase it this time round.

I've actually stopped playing games on the iPhone some months back. But now, I need to. I need to wait for Kerri to sleep soundly after her feed at night so that I can go off to pump my milk in peace. I can't have her crying out loud in the middle of the night and wake Kae up. The other reason is I need to do something to keep myself awake while waiting for Kerri to sleep soundly. I've been so tired nowadays that I can doze off straight away the moment I close my eyes. Even while I'm sitting. Yes. I'm that tired. So in between her milk drinking and my milk pumping, which is her falling asleep time, I play games. This is it for now.

Hole in Pocket

We spent on 3 big items this weekend.

First item is Kerri's vaccination package.

We went for Kerri's 1st vaccine shot on saturday. She cried when she was injected, unlike Kae who didn't. It was then did I realise that Kerri's head shape (at the back) is seriously flat. And because of this, we are starting to let her sleep in the dimple pillow and on her front if she's not too irritated. Pray pray her head shape will be round, round round!

The 2nd item is the Medela Freestyle.

I've finally decided to buy an electric pump as it's getting really tiring to manually pump out milk for 40 minutes 4-6 times a day. So, even though I've had no good reviews from using the Medela Mini Electric and Avent Electric, I went ahead and bought the Medela Freestyle. Actually, it's more of dar's idea. He doesn't want me to spend so much time and energy pumping milk when it can be done in half the time I take normally. So, he did the online research and decided that we should get either the Medela Freestyle or Pump in Style. We got the Freestyle model as it was selling at a really good price at the Takashimaya Baby Fair.

The third and last item is the Ferrari booster car seat for Kae.

As mentioned in one of the earlier posts, we have been looking for a booster seat for Kae so that Kerri can inherit her Britax car seat. We chose this as it can be harnessed to the seat of the car, and deemed more safe for Kae. The usual booster seat is just a sitting cushion to elevate Kae's height on the seat and cannot be harnessed, which is more dangerous I think.

Yes, these are the things that we spend on nowadays, instead of buying bags, shoes, etc etc etc. Sigh.

Busy weekend with the girls

Last weekend was busy busy busy. Meaning we were kept busy on our feet the whole day.

We headed towards Vivocity on saturday for a bit of window shopping. And also to Mothercare at Harbourfront to browse through the Medela pumps and booster car seats for Kae. The first as I am getting rather sick and tired of using the manual pump for 40 minutes everytime I pump. It's a waste of time and energy. The second as Kae is outgrowing her Britax Royale car seat, which will be given to Kerri to use instead.

Of course we have to stop for coffee at Yakun, where Kae was visibly bored until her bread arrived.

After the window shopping, we headed home for Kae's afternoon nap. And when she woke, we headed down to Kae's cousins' place for a last minute birthday celebration for the younger brother. And all 3 of them were so eager to blow out the candles on the cake!

On sunday, we attended Junyu's 1st year birthday party. Oops, no time to take photos with 2 kids now, so we didn't bother to bring along our canon DSLR, which is the only functionable camera we have now.

Kerri spent her whole time there sleeping in JY's comfortable Fisher-Price Think Pink bouncer, which we are trying hard to find now but to no avail; it is a rather old model from 3 years ago.

And Kae, as usual, hung around in the boys' playroom the whole time we were there.

After the party, we headed home for Kae's afternoon nap (yes, it's becoming a ritual), and headed to Orchard after she woke for the same reasons we did when we were out on saturday. Boy were we tired out when the weekend finally ended on sunday night!

And it's gonna be like this... forever...
