Maison Kayser
I headed down to Maison Kayser located at the new Scotts Square for a coffee break.
M K is known for their french breads and pastries. But they only had eclairs when I was there, so I ordered that to try together with a cup of coffee.
Nothing fantastic, I was disappointed. Maybe I should just buy their bread and tarts to try the next time. There was a constant stream of people queuing to buy the bread while I was having my coffee break.
Kitty kitty
I am a closeted Hello Kitty lover. Although I'm not a huge fan who spends money on limited editions of Hello Kitty objects, I do like to buy Hello Kitty clothes and accessories for my 2 girls.
Case in point, Kerri dressed in a Hello Kitty dress with a pair of Hello Kitty socks.
Hand in Hand
It is always endearing to see your 2 girls grow together, loving each other as best friends. I hope they will grow up to be each other's best friend in life.

Fooling around at the Backseat
We drive a 2 door car, which is inconvenient for us as some might say since we have 2 girls who still need to be in their car seats at the back. Yes, we bought the car even when we have 2 kids. But somehow we got used to spending time to put the girls in before we drive off.
The 2 girls somehow bond together when seated behind. Whenever Kerri cries or requires attention, all it takes to calm her down is handing on to Kae's hand. Of course this doesn't work when she's hungry and demands her milk.
And when their children songs are played in the car, they both sing and hum together.
And they like to play with each other by pulling at each other's hands.
I love my girls!

the night I Threw up
I dread falling sick nowadays. I take a long time to recover, and it's quite irritating to be sick and caring for the 2 girls at the same time.
So imagine my horror when I felt nauseous on the night dar is attending dinner with his friends. I brushed it off, thinking maybe I was just tired and needed some sleep. Alas, it was not to be, and I actually vomited twice, locking myself in the toilet, and asking Kae to help keep an eye on Kerri. I had no choice but to ask dar to cut short his dinner and head home.
I am so thankful that I did not experience any nauseous vomiting when I was pregnant with the 2 girls. I hate vomiting!

a Must have at Starbucks
Every time we go to Starbucks for coffee, we have to order a chocolate muffin for our big princess. She can finish one all by herself without any help!

No Menu
I met up with Cherine and Clarice for lunch at No Menu located at Boon Tat Street today. Cherine was the one to suggest this restuarent. She thought it should be quite good since it's always packed when she walks past during lunch time.
The amuse bouche.
For our starter, we ordered their mozzarella cheese with parma ham served with peach and sicily tomatoes to share. And this is one portion out of three. And it's heavenly! It's nicer than that served at Otto. But then again, this was their special of the day and not their regular on the menu.
For my main, I ordered their Vongole with Mussels in white wine sauce, another special of the day. This was just alright to me. Nothing special actually.
Maybe Cherine and Clarice ordered the right special of the day, Lobster Linguine in tomato base sauce. They seemed to enjoy their pasta immensely.
Between the 3 of us, we ordered their Tiramisu and Panna Cotta to share. Again, both are average, nothing to wow about.
But I might really just return for their mozzarella cheese and parma ham!

Old time friends
I wonder if they will remember they've known one another and played together since young when I show them the photos later when they grow up. Hah.

a Day Off
Dar took a day off from work today and we celebrated a day after his birthday together, and for V Day too. Heh. Kerri will be staying overnight at the in-laws' and Kae will be sleeping with my parents in Bishan.
Yes, a rare night off. I was looking forward to a night of uninterrupted sleep. Heehee.
We had lunch at Bedrock Bar and Grill. Yes, lunch is cheaper. More specifically, their set lunch. You can choose to have a 2 course of a soup or dessert with a main, or a 3 course of all 3 mentioned. I think it's quite a good idea since both the soup and dessert for the lunch sets are daily specials, and you have no choice for each item.
Their nan bread is served with butter and garlic. The unusual thing is their garlic is served whole! Super yum!
I ordered their celery soup to try. It's quite alright I guess. You can't go wrong with cream base soup.
And then came our meat. We both love red meat. Hence this restaurant. They are reputed to serve good quality meat.
Dar chose the ribeye with fries as the side. While I opted for the striploin with yukon gold mash potato as my side. I choose mash potato over fries any time.
I loved my striploin and my mash potato. I want to go back for lunch!
Dessert was average, just a chocolate brownie cheesecake.
We ended the meal with coffee as usual, but we should have drank at their sister cafe Oriole, just next door instead. The exact same coffee costs more at Bedrock!
After lunch, we walked around town for a little while before heading to Spa Vintage for a nice massage. Alas, my nose was too sensitive for my own good, and I became sick with a bad bad bad case of runny nose right after the massge. Think it's the air and the oil used.
Dinner was at Sushi Tei Holland Village as we wanted to head to Wala Wala for a short drink after. Parking at Holland V is always a headache now. We would be considered lucky if we can get a lot after 10 minutes. Once, we waited for at least half an hour, with the 2 girls in the car no less.
I always feel very old going to Wala now. Especially if we head to the bar upstairs. But today, we saw a few other couples and groups who seemed to be around the same age as us. Hah. It's no longer a hang out drinking joint for youngsters!

Happy BIrthday Dar!
It's his dragon year. So you can guess how old he is turning. Heehee. On this actual day, we celebrated with the girls with a simple dinner and a cake at home.
Happy birthday dar!

Till death do them part
And so, the last of the females in the group to be declared married.
It was a simple affair, with the solemnization just outside the restaurant, and lunch after.
I loved how the cheongsam looked on her!
Sorry E, I whipped out the camera too late, after you left!
Congrats my dear friend! Stay happy in love!

What Valentine?
In the early morning of 14th February 2012, Kae woke and vomitted. Hah! Talk about being repulsed by the idea of Valentine's Day!
How did V Day come about anyway? I googled for the answer and was surprised to learn that V Day was not associated with love originally. Refer to this link.
How many of you still celebrate V Day I wonder? Over the years, I guess we mellowed our celebration. I can't really remember, but I should think we only celebrated V Day during the first 1 or 2 years of dating. Maybe it's because dar's birthday falls 2 days after, and we find it a waste of money to have 2 celebrations in a month within 3 days.
Happy V Day all.

Her BFF's birthday
Kae was super excited about attending Kayenne's birthday party. She kept asking me when it was. Even though she enjoys going to her new school, I think she misses her friends from her old school at the same time.
And so the day came. She was in a super high mood when she woke. True enough, she and Kayenne were inseparable from the start till the end of the party, which was held at Go-Go Bambini; it was also our first time attending a party there.
For the party, besides playing at the playground area, the kids were to customized their own T-shirts with fabric dye pens.
And yes, they just have to sit together and discuss how they want to colour their T-shirts.
Happy birthday Kayenne!

Ubin Seafood
We always have a headache when it comes to eating places now that we moved to Shelford. I cook dinner now daily on weekdays when we are at home. Weekends however, we will roam the streets of Singapore to find food.
Sick of shopping centre food courts and restaurants, we try to stick to eateries outside of shopping malls. Of course, we need recommendations. Going to Holland V every other weekend is getting boring, and exasperating, as it takes us forever to wait for a parking lot.
Dar's colleague recommended him Ubin Seafood, which is located at Sin Ming, which is considered near to our place. We realised that we ate at Ubin Seafood when thy were located at the junction of Bukit Timah and Sixth Avenue years ago. We thought the food was just passable. But we thought we should give it another go.
So off we went to Sin Ming. And we ordered 5 dishes for the 2 adults and 2 toddlers. Okay, it seems a bit excessive. Hah!
I liked the satay. For a hawker standard, it tasted quite good. The meat was not overdone, and very chewy.
Next is their salted egg yolk squid. As a lover of salted egg and seafood, this dish can do no worng. It didn't taste too rich. They could however improve by serving the dish while it was still warm.
Their Ngoh Hiang was too fried till too dry for my liking. The sauce was nice though.
I didn't bother to take a photo of their bean curd which we ordered. I didn't like that as we thought it was the egg bean curd initially when we ordered.
My favorite dish of the evening would have to be their fried hokkien prawn noodle special. There is a certain condiment or sauce they used which I can't pinpoint what it is exactly. Downside, its a bit salty, so much so that dar only ate like 1/4 and gave the rest to me! It's a portion for 2-3 to share.
What can I say, I am the bigger eater of us 2. Heh.
