girly Kae, finally!

Finally, girly toys for Kae!

She has been playing with her rides, her trains, her balls, and her clubs. We finally decided to let her play with more girly toys.

The tea set trolley was a present from Miki, and Kae was hooked on it the moment she saw the set. But not before she saw the Hello Kitty Gas Stove Basket set mummy finally got for her after 3 trips down to Robinsons! They are selling it at $29.90, the retail is $59.90! Other places like Takashimaya and Isetan are selling it at $44.90! Of course must buy from Robinsons! It was like sold out the 1st weekend!

Words of Advice

1. Please don't offer Kae any food just before she's about to have dinner. It is common sense.

2. Please don't play with Kae when she's having dinner. It's tough enough to make her concentrate on her meal without people sitting around her trying to make her do anything but chew the food instead. Play with her after she's finished her dinner. Can't you just bloody wait?

3. Please stop saying that Kae's hair is still long even after her fringe has been cut. I don't want her to look like a nerd in short fringe. Better yet, why not I shave off her hair instead and let her look like a nun?

4. Please stop criticizing how Kae eats her rice. One time is enough. We do not have to eat the way you do. Not everyone is like your children. And your soup doesn't taste all that good.

5. Please stop playing favorites and keep saying that Kae likes who and who. Kids' feelings can be hurt, and to rasie an adult's ego is just childish.

6. Please check thoroughly what's wrong when Kae crys if we are not around. Don't let her suffer in her pampers full of shit without knowing. Use the organ known as the nose.

7. Please say what you want to say directly to us, and not running off to the in-between as and when you like. Your words are not translated to me unless I ask specifically or something happens. So give it up!

Santouka's still my number 1

My parents came over to take care of Kae on Tuesday.

I attended the complimentary workshop provided by Canon, as we bought their 500D. The 2 hour lesson basically touched on the different functions of the camera. The trainer did give us some tips here and there. But as the class was huge (think there were like 45 attendees), I don't think we really learnt much. Maybe I will consider attending their paid course. Hmm. But then again, I am not that into photography yet. Hah!

I met dar for dinner at Santouka. Usually, when Kae is not with us, we try to eat at places where we won't/can't bring her. For Santouka, as the place is quite cramped, even though they have baby chairs, we won't bring Kae there. Also, I don't think her stomach can take the rich taste of their ramen.

The main reason we went there on Tuesday was because there was a promotion for Santouka. There is this 1-for-1 coupon for their Choice Pork ramen which can be found on Sunday Times (22 Dec 09) as part of The Central's anniversary celebration. Woot woot! Oh, the coupon is only valid till 29 Nov 09! Super yummy! Santouka is still my number one ramen shop. Hmm. Will it be overtaken by Ippudo when it opens its doors in December? We'll see.

Seriously, I think Santouka is a hot favourite with people. Imagine, we were there for like 30 minutes, and dar saw 2 different friends having dinner there too!

JG no more

Yesterday, Kae attended her last lesson at Julia Gabriel Playclub.

We've decided to place her in a full day centre come next year. Erm, but we've not yet found a place for her. Hah. We will decide more in this when we are back from our Perth trip. Yes, we are going to Perth in early December! Woot woot!

Anyhow, I felt quite sad actually after the last class. Having spent 1 and 3/4 terms there, it's inevitable that one feels nothing about leaving; leaving the place where you spent 2 hours of your time twice weekly; where you watch your daughter play and learn; where you get to spend time with other children and mummies. I have no idea if Kae understood me when I told her that we will not be going back to JG come next term. Sigh.

The Handburger

We finally tried the burgers at the Handburger.

Kae was with my parents so we thought why not eat there as we would not have gone there is Kae was with us. As luck would have it, just when we want to eat there, the queue there was super long! And it was a Tuesday!

Anyhow, the food did not disappoint. I had the Original Handburger, while dar had the All Works burger. The patty was juicy at first. But as I took quite a while to eat, it became dry and crumbled after a while. I lurve their straight cut fries! It seems like the fries have been placed and crushed in between paper; quite dry and thus not oily at all!

And please have their Lychee Mint drink. It tastes like the mint was freshly crashed!

But it is quite expensive. 2 burgers and 1 drink cost us around 40 bucks. Hmm. To indulge in expensive burgers once in a while is okay I guess.

I was walking around the shops in Orchard. And suddenly, I saw groups of junior college girls shopping for their prom night. Yes, that time of the year is here.

This brought me thinking to my own prom night in JC. I have no idea why, but it seemed that it was no big deal in my JC. We didn't have prom dates; we went as a class. Our prom king was a joke, seriously. Our prom queen thought she was getting married that night, and was all dressed in white, and her prince charming was also dressed in white. After the draggy dinner, everyone except the commitee went down to boat quay to celebrate in a less stuffy environment. I still remember that night. Students from VJC, ACJC and SAJC were all gathered at Boat Quay after their dinner, which happened to be on the same night. And I had to call my dad to come fetch me and my friends home as we could not get a cab during the wee hours of the morning!

And Kae is 22 months old!

Oops, I missed the date. But Kae juz turned 22 months old on the 10th. Reaching her terrible twos soon. Though I think she has already reached that stage. Hah!

Annual Golf event

And so we went down to the Barclays Singapore Open 2009 on days 3 and 4.

This time, we brought Kae with us on day 3. But as children under the age of erm, 16 or 18? are not allowed into the Barclays Pavilion, we had to take turns to go into the Pavilion and have our lunch. Hah! They should really set up an area where families can bring their kids along. Hey, now golf is a damn popular sport among the kids.

And so we brought Kae and pushed her along while we walked the course. She fell asleep after a while so it was easier on us. But we didn't really stay long though. Heck. It was damn hot and tiring after a while, so we left early. Which works out well, as it started to rain soon after we left.

We went back on day 4 without Kae. Which meant we enjoyed our lunch and tea and drinks in peace. Heh. And were able to walk for a longer time at the course.

We followed Els for like 7 holes, after which we went back to the Pavilion. Think he was trying to get a breather after one of his shots. He just walked out of the greens, and to where we were standing. Hah. Everyone were like trying to take shots of him, and take shots beside him.

Oh, and we got a real close up shot of Adam Scott!

Kae and her new Purple friend

Kae now has a new purple friend.

I think you can all guess who the friend is. Yes, it's Barney. She grew to lurve Barney only recently, even though she's been watching Barney on Playhouse Disney channel since like forever. She pronounces Barney as Barbey. Heehee.

We just bought her the floppy Barney soft toy last week, and it has been her favourite companion since. Goodbye Carebear, Barney has taken over your place. Hah!

Tokyo Trip day 8

Day 8 is the last day of our Tokyo trip.

We were supposed to board the plane back to Singapore at 1130am, but due to the Typhoon Melor, our flight was pushed back to 730pm. SIA actually called us the night before to inform us. So, we made arrangements to change our airport limousine bus ride and did not get stranded at Narita.

The wind and rain was quite heavy in the morning, but by 11am, the skies were clear!

I dunno if we were unlucky or lucky; a friend who was in Tokyo right after us had fine sunny weather her entire trip of around the same length of days. But seriously, I was grateful that even though we had rainy weather, we could still manage to walk around and look see in that kind of rainy weather.

We did nothing much on the last day. Basically we slept in, walked around the hotel, the gift shops, and out of the hotel.

Oh, and because our flight was delayed, we were given 2 meal coupons to spend at any restaurants within Narita. Hah! Hence, we had our final meal in Tokyo at Narita before we boarded the plane.

Sigh, I do miss Tokyo!

Tokyo Trip day 7

We continued day 7 of the Tokyo trip in Disneyland. We decided not to go Disneysea as it was more suitable for older children and adults. Besides, we were hoping to catch the electric lights parade at Disneyland as it was cancelled the night before.

We woke up to another rainy day. Look at the view just at our window.

And so we continued to take pictures of more characters.

As we've got time on our hands, we went to queue at Mickey's house, just to take a photo with him. Think we waited for like 45 minutes?

Did I mention that I lurve to snack at the churros? It taste super yummy on a cold wet day. Heh. Especially their pumpkin flavour. Yums!

Some other interesting food we had (or rather the shape of the food) were the waffle and some sandwich thingy. Yes, the glove is the sandwich.

The highlight of the day was of course the electric lights parade. Luckily for us, they decided to proceed even though it was raining. Heh.

Oh and the fireworks were oh so pretty! It's like living in happily ever after land!
