I dread CNY shopping

Isn't this dress pretty?

I saw this Peter Khor dress at Tangs while out shopping for Chinese New Year.

Yes, the dreaded time of the year is here again. Shopping for CNY clothes and shoes. I always try to buy new outfits for each day of CNY. This year there will be 4 days since day 1 falls on a Thursday. While means I have to buck up. It's the same story every year. I always buy my clothes and shoes at the last minute. Even when I start shopping early in December. I don't know why I just can't seem to find clothes and shoes (especially) that suit me (and my theme) each year.

Oh woe is me. Just 1 more month to go. Plus the fact that I can only actually shop in peace 2-3 hours once a week is not helping. The sales are not helping either.

Counting down to her Small 3

And we are counting down to Kaelyn's 3rd birthday party. It will be held at Fidgets on 8th January, as her actual birth date falls on a Monday this year (10th January).

Why the party this year? Kae has been attending lots of parties over the last few months and we thought that she's old enough to remember her own birthday party. Since we didn't have a party for her 2nd birthday, having one for her 3rd birthday sounds great. And because of the venue, we've only invited friends with kids, which means majority of the guests will be from dar's side.

I can't wait! Think mummy is more excited than the birthday girl. As usual.

the No Pedal Prebike

On Xmas day, we brought Kae to ECP to try out the Strider Bike.

She was not very enthusiastic about the ride. Most probably it's because she felt tired after riding for a while. Since the bike has no pedals, and she had to use her legs to "ride" the whole time. Never mind, we'll bring her to ride more often and she'll grow to love it. She had better, else it will be a wasted buy, hah!

Kaelyn's 1st visit to Zouk

I stepped into Zouk recently.

But I didn't go there for late night drinks nor for dancing. I went there for a christmas party together with dar and Kae. Yes, with Kae.

It was organized by Baby Loves Disco. A afternoon dance party featuring real music spun and mixed by real disc jockeys blending classic disco tunes from the 70s & 80s guaranteed to get those little booties moving and grooving.

Kae was initially terrified of the loud music and huge crowd, even though she was so happily looking forward to the party while we were queuing to get in. Yes, the queue was long!

She warmed up soon after she got her balloon sword and started to boogie to the music. Her friend ZY, however, was quite quiet throughout the party and only warmed up to the music towards the end.

Looking forward to the next dance party!

Kae's 1st prata

Tonight was the latest we stayed out with the 2 girls. We reached home at around 11pm. And tonight was the 1st time Kae had a prata.

We headed towards Playground at Big Splash for supper. Main reason was to heat up milk for Kerri. We were actually on the way home from Vivocity when Kerri decided she was hungry. And so we decided to stop along the way for a quick bite.

We would stop at Old Town White Coffee usually for our coffee break. But tonight we ended up at the newly opened Mr Teh Terik. And as we needed something aka food to distract Kae, we ordered a paper prata with chocolate sauce for her.

I think she loves the prata. Not sure if the chocolate sauce was the main culprit. I guess we will be back for more then.

Pooh at Nex

Kae's school was closed today. Which meant that I was stuck at home with 2 kids.

So contingency plans were made, and Kerri was dropped off at the in-laws' in the late afternoon, while I brought Kae to the newly opened Nex shopping mall.

My purpose of going to Nex was solely for the Winnie the Pooh meet and greet session. As I thought Kae deserved a treat on her day off from school. We missed the 4pm session, so we had to walk around while waiting for the 7pm session.

So, I had my lunch (yes at 4pm) at Sushi Tei.

After which, I headed to the nursery room at Isetan to pump milk. Yes, I love Isetan nursery rooms, other than the rooms found at Tangs and Paragon.

Then it was time to queue for the meet and greet session. Although there wasn't much of a queue. Seriously, people could still swagger into the session when it has started even when there were only 50 coupons given out!

Kerri is now 6 months old!

Happy 6th month day Kerri! You will be starting your semi solids this month! Hope everything will go smoothly (into your mouth)! Heehee.

Liver time!

Ah yes, it's time for foie gras with my partner in crime again.

This time round, we headed to Tea Cosy for our liver. It's a quaint little cafe/shop located on the 5th level of Plaza Singapura.

One word, yummy! I'm definitely going back for seconds, thirds, fourths, etc. You get the picture.

Xmas shows

We went for 2 Xmas shows this week.

First stop was to Marina Square for the Hi-5 show.

Kae doesn't know about Hi-5 actually. We just wanted to bring her to a show, period. And since we happened to be at Marina Square, we stayed and found a nice corner at the 2nd level above the stage to view the show.

Next stop was to Millenia Walk for Thomas the Train show. We went once the week before and Kae was petrified as she was in a whiny mood. She cried so loudly that we had to pull away from the crowd. It was only when we were on the way home that she declared she wanted to see Thomas again. So again we went. On another day of course.

In a naughty mood before the show.

Kae was so well behaved during the show. For those who don't know my daughter, she is extremely afraid of crowds. And she would whine and cry whenever we happened to be in a crowded area with loud music. However, she did no such thing during the show.

She even replied the emcee calmly the 2 questions posted to her while waiting on the stage for her photo taking session with Thomas. I am so proud of you babe!

Otto and Kki

As dar was on leave, we took the chance to go for a nice meal. The last time we did was just before I popped in June.

And so we headed to Otto Ristorante for lunch. He has been meaning to bring me to this eatery forever as he thought the food was great on one of his lunch visits there. And yummy the food did taste. Even the pork belly which was on the house.

We ordered from the ala carte menu, as we wanted to try other food. One good thing about this place is that they change their set lunch menus weekly, so one will never get to be sick of their food. And so we had their pan roasted foie gras, hokkaido scallop carparccio and parma ham to share. For mains, I had the spaghetti with sea urchin and grey mullet bottarga, while dar had the veal ravioli with truffle and sage emulsion. All are yummy!

For dessert, I managed to drag dar to Kki, a place I've been meaning to try for ages. When we reach at 3pm, the mont blanc and tiramisu were already sold out. So, I settled for the Antoinette, which is the white chocolate mousse with mango centre while dar had the Cafe Dumo which is the chocolate coffee mousse with praline centre. And both are delicious! The trip there wasn't cheap though, which is a major turn off for dar. For 2 slices of cakes and 2 cups of Nespresso, the trip costs us $30 plus. I reckon I have to find another sweet tooth friend to try the other cakes there.

Kerri's 1st Brunch

Ah yes, breakfast at Riders cafe again. I simply love this place.

However, this time round we didn't get our usual fix of the pancakes and the eggs benedict, as they have been removed from their menu. Instead, dar had the french toast while I had the Riders breakfast, which were equally nice.

And Kerri proved to be such a good girl; she slept just enough for us to enjoy our breakfast in peace.

But I do hope they will have the eggs benedict again the next time we visit. They serve the best eggs benedict!
