1st date night

We managed to squeeze in nearly 2 hours of alone time at Wala Wala on saturday night.

I think we must been really out of touch with the music scene and what's hot and what's not. The band that night was Shirlyn and the UnXpected, and though she and the rest of the band were good as usual, I have no clue to what songs they are singing. And apparently, the crowd all knew the songs! The only songs I was familiar with was when she sang Bon Jovi's "Always" and Queen's "Radio Gaga" and my favorite "Bohemian Rhapsody". Gosh, I'm getting old!

Although it was short (we left the house at 10pm, and reached home at 1245am), it was good while it lasted. No kids to worry about. Just good old beer, fries and music. Just the 2 of us.

1st outing as a family of 4

We went out on saturday as a family of 4.

This was our 1st attempt at handling 2 kids on our own for a prolonged period of time out of the comfort of our home. Prolonged meaning just 3-4 hours; I need to rush home to pump milk. Because I think dar (nor anyone) would not be able to handle his 2 girls at the same time while I pump milk at the shopping centres or in the car.

Anyway, we only managed to venture to Centrepoint Orchard. We wanted to check out the car seats (obviously we need 1 more for Kerri) and Medela pumps at Robinsons. I am actually using the Avent manual pump now as with Kae, but it is getting really tiring this time round.

Coincidentally, this was where we first brought Kae to for her 1st shopping trip. And yes, we had to go to Macs too for our meal, and feed Kerri her milk while we eat.

I wonder if we can keep up to bringing the 2 girls out every weekend. It is actually quite exhausting.

Kerri's 1st Month

We had Kerri's 1st month celebration last saturday.

It was a very small affair. Including our immediate families, the guest list was capped at below 40 pax. I am thinking of throwing a big bash for her 1 year old birthday instead, just like what we did for Kaelyn.

We were lucky that the rain stopped just in time for the lunch to begin; it started raining at 3-4plus in the wee hours of the morning, and continued till noon. And because of the rain, most people came in later. And by that, I mean most people came in at the same time. So it was quite crowded at our small little pathetic party area! Argh. That is the main reason for my small party.

Oh, and ain't these lollipops pretty? They are actually lollipop cakes made by a friend. Check out her website: Louloupops' Cake Pops Bakery!

Anyhow, although it was Kerri's 1st month, Kae got presents too from 4-5 kind friends. They all gave her presents for 1 reason: they didn't want Kae to be jealous of her little sister, whom has got loads of nice clothes as presents! I am kind of worried now though. Coz Kerri is now growing to be quite big in size, and I have a nagging feeling that she will outwear her new clothes without even wearing them once!

Thank you all for your kind gifts and well wishes!

Full month package from Gobi

Okay, I am too lazy to blog about Kerri's full month. Maybe tomorrow.

This is what we gave to dar's colleagues as Kerri's full month token of appreciation. 6 yummy mini chocolate fudge cakes coated with dark and white chocolate from Gobi. Heavenly!

Oh, and they are having a promotion now for their macarons with Citibank cards: $10 for 12 pieces of macarons. Valid only till 15 August, so hurry!

Oh, by the way, they are now at 350 Joo Chiat Road. The other smaller branches have closed down.

Kae and her headwear

I've always lurved Kae wearing her hats/caps. Somehow she has this boyish charm to her when she dons on a cap. Recently, she added 2 new caps to her collection. Not that she always wear them the past 2 years. Maybe this will be her thing in time to come.

This is Kae in her latest addition from Zara. I lurve her in this!

She was wearing this cap bought from New Zealand when we bought the Zara cap.

Her Chateau de Sable sunny hat, which proved super handy when we were in Perth.

Her Zara cap which kept her warm while in Tokyo

And lastly her Odaiba cap when she was oh so young.

How the Bad Parent was created

I just realized today that I've been made the bad parent.

I've always thought that Kae lurves the daddy more as she don't see him as often as me, after staying at home with me for 2 whole years. And of course, due to the fact that I actually reprimand her more often as she's with me during the whole 24 hours. She's not always so innocent and demure okay?

Then on monday morning, when I was giving her the medication before sending her off to school, it suddenly hit me. I'm the bad parent. The damage has been done. Even when daddy is around, I'm always the one feeding her medication, whether she likes it or not (sometimes she lurves to take medicine, especially the pink paracetamol). And when she don't, I'm the one to scold her, and she runs to daddy for comfort.

Even when daddy is around, I'm always the one who feed her meals. So when she wants to eat her meals herself, I'm always the one to say no, as she always like to play with her spoon, fork, etc and make a mess of the whole place and of course, dirty her clothes, which I have to clean.

Even when daddy is around, I'm always the one to see to her safety when we are out and about. I'm always the one to scold and forbid her from touching stuff at the stores, reprimand her when she runs near any breakables, or jumping up and down on the escalator.

Even when daddy is around, I'm always the one to control what she can and cannot eat. I'm always the one to say no to her having snacks and sweets. I'm always the one to allow her just a tiny portion of ice-cream and other junk food that she is allowed to put into her stomach.

So, is it any wonder that Kae actually prefers her daddy over her mummy?

She's now always whining for daddy when he is not around. She always wants her daddy to carry and comfort her even when he's the one (and not me) to scold her at times. She always cries for her daddy when she wakes in the middle of the night.

It is just plain hurtful at times. Sigh. And I suspect Kerri will also follow in her sister's footsteps.

3 weeks and counting

Kerri is now 3 weeks old.

Yay! Just 1 more week to go to her first month baby shower. The only problem is we haven't really sort out the guest list and catering as I type. You see, I actually want this to be a small affair (I'm actually quite tempted to just skip the shower altogether and just have a simple dinner within the immediate family circle). As our estate does not have a function room. And the largest barbeque pit area can only seat 25 pax (there're only 25 chairs). I have trimmed my friends' list to the smallest possible, believe me. But then, I think it's a bit "rude" to not invite my extended family. However, I do not want a case whereby I invite more than what my party area can accommodate, and the guests will have not much space to move around in and not enough chairs to sit on. See my dilemma?

Oh, and I so need to get something for Kerri to wear for her 1st month shower. Shopping time on saturday! Hey, I should get me something to wear too!

Anyway, Kerri is still drinking and drinking and drinking. She is having 9-10 feeds a day, at 90-100ml per feed. I think she is a big drinker, compared to Kae, and I worry that my milk supply might not match up to her milk demand in time to come. She is a feed on demand baby, unlike Kae, whom I could "train" to drink at a specific timing, and is still crying the house down if she don't get her milk when she wants it.

I am so not looking forward to when my parents move back home. Now, they are the ones who give Kerri her nightly feeds, which can happen up to 3 times in the wee hours of the night. I do wake up once at around 3am to pump milk. And after Kae goes to school at 720am, I will go back to sleep at 8am after pumping milk of course, and only wake at 11plus in the morning. I actually woke at 12 noon today! Sigh.

And already, my eye rings are black black black. Erm, any recommendations for good eye cream?

the Wild Child

We went to this quaint little shop Wild Child, located at Club Street yesterday.

I knew of this place as a friend bought one of the Little Giraffe blankets from the shop for Kae when she was born 2 years ago; the Chenille Satin. One side is of the chenille material for when the weather's cold, and the other is of satin material, for when it's not that cold. I lurve this blanket so much that I, and not Kae, am using it most of the time.

Yesterday was my first time stepping into the shop. The moment I stepped on, I was mesmerized. If I've visited this shop 2 years ago, I would have bought loads of stuff for Kae. Their accessories, clothing, toys are oh so pretty. It's like stepping into a fairyland. Look at the photos, you'll get what I mean. But their stuff is not cheap. Sigh. All mothers to be, please visit this shop if you are having a baby soon. And be prepared to pay pay pay! Hee!
