Queensland Trip Day 1 - Gold Coast

Our second family trip overseas!

And finally it was time to hit the airport to take our flight to Aussie land! Kerri had been sick this past week right before we left the house. Thank god her fever subsided after 4 long days!

It was our very first flight aboard Etihad Airways. The price difference between Etihad Airways and Singapore Air was quite substantial. And so we chose the former. It had been the world's leading airline in the first class category, so we thought it shouldn't be too bad for their economy category too right?

After over 7 hours of torture, Kerri was in a cranky mood during the red eye flight, we finally reached Brisbane airport! Overall, the service at Etihad was alright. Other than a few who weren't too friendly. But I definitely prefer the service at SQ. Maybe our crew for the flight was cranky too. Hah!

And we reached our destination in under 2 hours! Our accommodation at Air on Broadbeach! Very spacious apartment for the 4 of us! Granted we asked for a 2 bedder with a guaranteed high floor with sea view! And they really gave a high floor, the highest at level 36! Do email them for better rates. They gave us a good discount when I emailed them to check on the availability.

Upon checking in, we took a much needed afternoon nap. When we woke, it was already evening time, so we thought we would just venture out to the beach right in front of the apartment for a slow walk.

View of our apartment from the beach.

It is not stated on their website or in any review of the place, but the apartment is situated just next to a shopping centre, The Oasis Shopping Centre.  They share the same carpark! And so it was so convenient for us to buy groceries to stock up for our 5 nights stay in Gold Coast.

First ride of the trip: Merry go round just outside the shopping centre!
