Gruffalo's Child and Raffles Place

And the school holidays are coming to an end. On our agenda today was to head to The Arts House for a viewing of one of the films from the Singapore International Children's Film Festival by Big Eyes Big Minds. "Curious Critters" is a showcase of 5 films, of one of which is the famed Gruffalo's Child, which happened to be my favorite out of the 5 films we watched.

After the show, we met dar for lunch and we decided on Da Paolo Gastronomia, located at 6 Battery Road. I love the whole deco and ambience of the cafe, with lush greenery right in front of our faces even though it's within a building.

Coffee was at Dimbulah Coffee located at Chevron House (Change Alley). The cafe was really crowded and we were lucky to get a table. Their cake and coffee we had was quite good.

Before heading off, Kae had herself a swinging good time at one of the nostalgic playsets at the Raffles Place Park just outside of Raffles Place MRT station, which is an event initiated by National Parks to commemorate 50 years of Greening Singapore. Playsets of Yesteryears are displayed at the different parks at different times of this year. Please click here for more information.

SingKids with Theodore

Kae had a play date with Td today at SingKids PlaySystem located at United Square. This was our first time at this playground. This playground is good for young kids like Kerri. All the equipment are padded as is the floor. For Kae, I think it is still alright as there are certain equipment that requites climbing and running around. But definitely a no no for kids 7 years and above I would think. Kae enjoyed herself very much at this playground, but I doubt I will be bringing her to this place again during the school holidays as we had to pay peak hour rates anytime during the school holidays which is $18 an hour.

For lunch, we settled for The Manhatten Fish Market. Also our first time eating there. The food was of quite decent quality and quantity.

It is always fun to see how Kae and Td interact with each other. I've always told Kae that she has to treat Td like her little brother as he's the same age as Kerri and to look out for him. That she did. And I'm happy that she put in an effort to play with him like how a big sister should. More play dates to come!

Monsters University

Kae has been excited about watching the movie Monsters University ever since she saw the backdrop for the show at a shopping centre recently. To her they are cute monsters I think. And I thought the movie was great! Values like loyalty to friends, never giving up came across quite strongly throughout the movie.

Girls girls girls

The girls hung out for a while when we went for an impromptu visit to Aud's place.

Little Amelia was quite taken with the girls, as with any other toddler, who always seemed to be taken with a older friend, and not friends of their same age.

After a while however, it seemed that Amelia played better with Kerri, who's 2 years her senior. So cute to see them playing together!

It's a Bear Hunt

Today's holiday program for Kae was to watch "It's a Bear Hunt!" from the Singapore Innovative Children's Festival

This marks the first time we stepped foot into the Drama Centre located at the National Library Board.

After the show, which I thought was quite boring, we managed a photo with the mascot.

"It's a Bear's Hunt" runs from 19th to 21st June 2013 at the Drama Centre.
More information can be found here.

And since we had time to spare, we took the chance to visit "My Tree House", the world's 1st green library for kids at the Central Public Library, located within the Children's Section. Kae seemed to like the place, and though we did not get down to reading and understanding about the ways of caring for the environment this time round, we will be back for more.

Kith Cafe at Park Mall

This was my first visit to Kith Cafe at Park Mall. And it was not a wasted trip. Their matcha latte was yummy, with no hint of caffeine or milk, just green tea goodness!

I thought their tiramisu was average. I prefer their chocolate molten cake.

Kerri's day

It is Kerri's actual birthday today. And so, we brought a Barney (her choice) cake to school to celebrate with her friends.

After the cake cutting session, dar had to head back to the office and I brought the girls to Jumperzillas, which is now known as Fidgets City, for some playground fun.

The whole area is very very small, but since it was not crowded, it didn't seem that bad. The girls had their fun while I had my rest. One bad thing was you have to head out and use the mall's toilets should the children or yourself needs a toilet break.

We head home and cut one last cake for Kerri as a family. My pretty girl just can't get enough of singing the birthday song and cutting the cake by herself. Happy birthday baby!
