Big Spender!

I spent so much money today?????

Just Foie Gras

I met dar for lunch at Tea Cosy today as I was craving for foie gras.

I think I will just stick to foie gras when I dine at Tea Cosy. Their set lunch, while economical, wasn't too impressive; it was average.

Their classic mushroom soup was good as usual. Thick with mushroom bits.

Their penne and salmon in creamy sauce was a tad salty for our taste buds.

While their breaded dory fish tastes nothing out of the ordinary.

Dora!

We happened to be at Raffles City after I fetched Kaelyn from school when I heard the commotion coming from Level 3. So off we went to have a look and we saw Dora!

Yes, Dora will be performing at Raffles City this Xmas and all the details can be found here.

And yes, Kae covered her eyes throughout the entire show. This show is really good! It's like watching a half hour Dora on TV, yes, it lasted a whole 30 minutes!

Yumi Kim

Lately, I've been loving Yumi Kim dresses.

They are made of 100% silk and feel so light and soft on the body. I was looking to buy these 2 dresses but decided to consider further as it's not cheap. Yup, it retails at Trixilini, going for $390 a dress. Faint!

Holding On

I don't always take a cab with Kerri when we go to school to pick Kaelyn, or to the in-laws'. I take the mrt when it's not raining. And it always seem that I do not get offered a seat while on the NEL mrts.

Seriously, out of the 10 times I'm not offered a seat, 9 times will be when I'm taking a train on the NEL. And the only 1 time I'm not offered will be when I'm NOT traveling along the NEL. Are people who live along the NEL less sympathetic? Bleah!

Brunetti

I met my netballer friends at Brunetti for lunch today. And yes, I brought Kae along.

I had always wanted to try Brunetti since they opened in Singapore at Tanglin Mall this year. They are quite well-known for their sweets in Melbourne.

But alas, I didn't get to try the sweets at all. Why? They have a different serving culture. They do not come to take your order. Instead you have to go to the counter and order. Fine. But they do not follow a queue system. Meaning, instead of queuing up behind a cashier on a first come first order basis, you have to grab hold of a counter stuff along the stretch of high counter table and place your order. It's like eating in a bar, where you just order from whichever bar staff is available. I guess this works fine during off peak hours, but during the weekends, especially during brunch times, it's quite irritating actually.

So after finishing my Club sandwich, which was not too bad, I didn't bother to go order any sweets. Oh yah and since photography was not allowed, there are no pictures taken of the food. And their selection of food is quite pathetic. Since they are only known for their sweets. I really felt like I was eating at a bar, and not a cafe.

Cookie time!

Last week we baked muffins. This week, it's time for cookies!

Though the cookies are quite charred in my opinion. And a tad dry and too sweet. Yes, another premix. Will try from scratch the next time heehee.

the 1st & the Last

Today is the 1st and the last time I will be bringing Kerri out solo to meet with my friends.

She was quite whiny when we reached, though she was okay after a short while. Well into an hour, she became restless, and started to whine and squirm and wail. Argh! It's quite evident in the photos yah?

Anyway, should be meeting up with SY more often come next year for late lunches when Zach is in school. Yay!

Black Friday Preview Sale

I finally bought the pedipeds for the girls. 25% discount during this Black Friday Preview Sale.

Black Friday is the day following Thanksgiving Day in the Staes, traditionall the beginning of the Christmas shopping season. On this day most retailers open early, at 4am. and offer promotional sales to kick off the shopping season.

I bought them both this pair of Mary Janes, hoping they can wear this for CNY. But I suspect Kerri's feet will still be too small.

And a new pair of shoes for Kae to wear to school next year. New school year, new shoes!

And a proper pair of pedipeds for Kerri to walk in.

Hi5 is coming!

It's that time of the year again, when parents have to jostle for space with their kids for a chance to meet their favourite heros and heroines.

And Hi5 is back in town this year at a different location. Last year they were at Marina Square. This year they will be performing at Millenia Walk instead.

And in addition to the usual Xmas show, a Hi5 camp and a Hi5 High Tea event have been organized by Kids Performing for all the Hi5 fans (and parents who are willing to fork out the money heh).

the ABCs

Kerri is a slower learner than Kae. At the same age, Kae could recognize some of the alphabets. I think it's because it's more tiring to care for Kerri, hence there's no more energy left to teach her.

And so, here comes the alphabets. Reused from Kae's time. Courtesy from Auntie Aud.

Let's hope she will learn the ABCs by the time she's 2. Heehee.

Our first bake

I've been telling dar that when we have an oven, I would bake cookies and cakes for the kids. And now that we've moved into our new place which comes with an oven, dar has been bugging me when I will make good my promise.

And so I did today. By baking muffins with Kae.

As this is my first time baking (I'm an idiot in cooking and baking) and using the oven, I decided to take the short cut way and use the premix.

Even with the premix, my 1st attempt went horribly wrong. Being the idiot in baking that I am, I have no idea how much 1 standard cup is. And forgetting to google the answer, I asked the sales person at Phoon Huat how much 1 standard cup usually measure. And she told me 1 litre. So I happily bought the 2 Litre measuring cup (which was the only one available then) and went home to bake my muffins. Alas, the mixture was TOO watery! Yes, go ahead and laugh. 1 standard cup is only about 237 ml. ARGH!

And so I went and buy me another pack of premix and tried again in the same day. Viola! My very first bake with Kae! She loves to bake so much, so I guess this will be the first of many more attempts. More to come definitely!

Jas and KS

Our dear friend, Jasmine, tied the knot today.

And me, Keddy and Audrey were 3 of the 6 jiemeis.

We all arrived just on time, except for Aud. Erm, and I mean just on time. We were supposed to reach at 630am, and the groom 7am. But somehow the groom and his entourage decided to reach at 655am. Luckily for me, I reached just before them. I actually saw their entourage along Lornie Road when I was on my way to Jas's house in a cab. Hah.

The guys were to sing 1 Hokkien and 1 Cantonese song for the 1st round of gate crashing. After which they were to dance to the song Nobody But You, which they failed miserably, but we had to let them pass. The 2nd round was to bite slices of bread which were applied with sour, sweet, bitter and spicy spreads into words of endearment for the bride. They bit "I LOVE U."

The 3 of us were in charge of the Ten Commandments. Which was relatively easy. Heehee. Signed, Sealed and Framed!

For their wedding lunch, they bought Polaroids and guests were encouraged to take Polaroids and sign off the guest book next to their faces.

And of course we have to take pictures together with the gang, it's been too long!

The 2 busy fathers with the kiddos.

Our next generation.

With our shy Kae. And nope, we didn't bring Kerri; we won't be able to enjoy the lunch!

Congrats Jas! Wishing you eternal bliss and happiness!

So, who's next? Heehee.
