the Long wait is over

After a long 5 and 1/2 days, my dar dar is finally home!

I think it is quite fortunate that Kae hasn't been whining for daddy these 6 days when he's not around. I wouldn't know what I would do if she cries and whines for him non-stop. Hah.

It's kinda a weird feeling for me too when dar is not around with me. I mean, we haven't been apart from each other for such a long period of time. Except when he went to Cebu and Shanghai for his business trip too, but that was like 3 and 5 days. Okay, so this time round is just 1 day more, but it just feels different. Maybe different in the sense that I'm with Kae and that I'm pregnant. I dunno. It's just like a part of me is missing. I do not really know hot to describe this feeling. Just that I missed my dar very much during these 6 days, and no, it's not because he wasn't there to help care for Kae, as my parents did help me out these 6 days.

I think it's good that dar went on this trip. It has made me appreciate him being around more, and made me realise that he's always on my mind. Heehee. I lurve you dar!

Alas! on the Final night..

And when I thought all were going well...

Kae developed a fever on saturday night. I decided that we should head back home to Pasir Ris to sleep as she may feel better and recover faster in her own bed, and of course to take her medicine as mummy dearest didn't bring along her paracetamol to Bishan. Lesson learnt: paracetamol is a must bring!

By the time we head back home late at 11pm, her fever reached a high of 39.6 degree celcius. So I fed her nurofen instead. I was damn worried that she developed a viral fever like 2 months ago, whereby her fever reached as high as 40.2 degree celcius and was sick for one whole week.

So now, mummy dearest is up, watching her sick baby soundly asleep, and hoping that she will recover soon. It's always a worry when she gets a fever, as it may be the start of other sickness to come.

Update: Luckily, her fever broke the next morning. Maybe she wanted to get well in time for daddy's homecoming! Hehehe.

Half way there!

This is our 3rd night at Bishan.

So far, so good. Kae has been really obedient. I could not have ask for more. Though she still wails for like 1 minute when she wakes (looking for me), she will settle down pretty quickly and revert back to her chirpy self in the mornings.

My most "shiong" day will be Saturday when she will not be attending school the whole day, but for 1 hour instead at Little Neuro Tree located at Parkway Parade. Sigh. It will be a solo show for me then.

the 1st night

This is the 1st out of 5 nights that Kae and me will be staying over at Bishan, while dar is in Hong Kong for his business trip.

So far, Kae's been really good. So far. She was quite happy at going over to my parents', although she did ask for daddy once in a while. And she was quite thrilled with her bed in my parents' room; yes, I'm trying to get Kae used to sleeping with my parents, so that perhaps she can stay over with them once in a while. Evil grin. And she fell asleep without a hitch.

But I'm still crossing my fingers. As she tends to wake up in the middle of the night, every night without fail to look for daddy and ask to drink milk. I worry she will cry like mad when she wakes later and finds that I'm not in the same room as her.

Let's just wait and see.

McDonald's, Kae's lurving it!

Once in a while, I will treat Kae to McDonald's, mainly the fries and the apple juice; I always order the McNuggets happy meal for her, though I am the one who eats the nuggets. Imagine my surprise today when she ate 3/4 of one nugget all by herself! For those who are not in the know, she usually only take fish, and not meat. But alas, that's about all she ate. She still lurves to dig into the fries and have her favourite drink.

Help!

It has been a roller coaster ride the past 2 weeks, and it is seriously never ending. I shall dwell further into this next time when everything is settled. But I doubt that it will be anytime soon. *vomit blood*

Next week will be worse, as dar will be away in Hong Kong for a business trip next tuesday and will be back on next sunday. Nearly 6 full days of Kae without the daddy around. Help! That is why I will be moving back to Bishan to stay with my parents while dar is away. At least my dad can help to send Kae to school in the morning, and I can rest when my mum is back from work at night.

I have no idea how Kae will react to daddy not around for 6 days. Hah. I hope she will not whine and pine for daddy dearest. Sigh. Maybe I have to give her sweets like cakes and stuff daily to keep her happy!

another go at Ippudo

I headed back to Ippudo for another try, this time with dar.

This time, I ordered the Akamaru Modern with Chashu (which is actually pork belly). And it is so much nicer! For me, it's always the chashu, and the pork loin I had the first time round just didn't cut it.

So for first timers, I would recommend the Akamaru Modern over the Shiromaru Classic, but both are only yummy if you order the Chashu version! And skip the egg, the egg is not worth it. And it is also the egg factor that Santouka still topples Ippudo over for me.

the day I turned 31

My dar took leave on my birthday to celebrate with me.

As we had too much meat the few days before my actual birthday, we decided to have a simple day with simple meals. After we sent Kae to school in the morning (hah, yes, Kae still had to go to school), we headed to Tiong Bahru Hawker Centre for some local breakfast. As I don't have the habit of eating so early in the day, we just ordered some simple food to share.

After a heavy (to me!) breakfast, we spent the day at the driving range and at Vivocity. And it actually rained very heavily for the 1st time in weeks! Argh. Of all days.

We picked up Kae from school and decided to bring her to Polliwogs at East Coast Park to let her have some fun. I've long wanted to bring her there, so, we decided to do so as dar was with me, as I don't think I can handle following her all around the indoor playground with my big big tummy.

And boy was I right. The adults have to keep bending down to follow the kiddos around due to the height limit. But Kae had a good time! Though she wanted dar to try the stations before she dare to attempt them herself.

After the tiring hour, we headed to Siglap Coffee Club for a quiet family dinner, or so I thought. Dar had actually arranged with 3 of my girlfriends to join us for a surprise dinner. Hah! Thanks dar dar! I seriously had no idea! Thanks dears for making time to have a quiet celebration with me, muacks!

Gyu Kaku: King of Jap BBQ still

We went to Gyu Kaku for another round of birthday treat for yours truly, and also to replenish my iron intake, hah!

I still lurve this Japanese BBQ restaurant. We ordered our usual, beef, pork belly, pork cheeks, venison, prawns, asparagus, and the oh so yummy hot stone rice. If only I can eat this everyday. Hah!

Thirty no more

And I am now considered to be in my early thirties. Hah!

Happy 31st Birthday to Me!

Nanbantei: Best Yakitori for now

We went for Yakitori at Nanbantei on Sunday as an early birthday celebration for yours truly. Yes, I am turning one year older. Again.

The first time I ate at Nanbantei was in Tokyo last october. My second time was in Singapore just in january, thanks to Ginny's recommendation. And this is my third time now.

I thought that the food was better in Tokyo compared to Singapore. But the Singapore branch is quite good actually. My favourite: their lamb chops, their chicken wings, and their asparagus wrappped with pork. Oh oh, and not forgetting their sweet corn! You have to order these 4 foods when there.

Oh, and if you want value for money, you could head there for lunch, as they serve their value bento sets. I am not sure if they only serve these during weekends, as I don't remember they served these when I was there on a weekday; I tried their bento set when I was there on sunday.

But, I do think that the food taste better when ordered ala carte. As the yakitori in the bento set was not really served piping hot from the oven.

Santouka over Ippudo

I finally ate at Ippudo today.

I was quite disappointed actually. I had the Shiromaru Classic: the Original recipe tonkotsu soup served with thin noodles, Rosu chashu (Pork Loin), cabbage, kikurage & scallions. Overall, the broth was good, not too salty. However, that was about it. The egg yolk was not runny. The noodles taste a bit too "hard". The char siew did not melt in my mouth.

And the verdict is clear. Santouka wins hands down. Maybe I should return to Ippudo another day and try their Akamaru Modern: the Original recipe enhanced with Ippudo’s special blended miso paste, served with thin noodles, Buta Bara (Pork Belly), kikurage, scallions and fragrant garlic oil.

3rd change of 2010?

Hmmmm, we are now looking into and contemplating our 3rd change of the year 2010.

More details will be revealed in the near future when everything is firmed.

Keeping my fingers and toes crossed. Sigh. A lot of work to be done.

Charcoal Restaurant

We went for dinner at Charcoal Restaurant with a group of friends last saturday. Apparently, Charcoal Restaurant is the new name for Petals; the restaurant for SHATEC trainees to hone their culinary and service skills.

The food was quite yummy actually. I am not very sure if the food was prepared by the trainees, as the chef came out to greet us and he looks quite old and professional. Maybe he oversees the trainees? The service of the wait staff is average; they are still learning anyway.

I definitely will return for more. My dar had the lamb as the main course, while I had the beef. For the price of around $45-48+++ for a 3 course set dinner, plus the fact that the food is really good, it is really worth it!

Choo choo!

And we bought Kae her very 1st Thomas the Train set, which includes the railways and stuff.

She is lurving her toy, still. I am still waiting for her to be sick of the toy and put in into her toy box and forget all about it. That doesn't seem to be happening. I suspect we will be buying her more and more expansion sets for her little blue choo choo engine.
