Blanco Court Kueh Chap at Holland Drive

I had been craving for Kueh Chap and we decided to head to the nearest Kueh Chap we can google at Holland Drive Food Centre.

This Blanco Court Kueh Chap is supposed to be famous, but I was surprised to see that there is no queue when we reached. Rather, there was another shop, a few stalls away on the right selling Kueh Chap as well as braised duck meat, which is more hot as there was a queue.

My thoughts: I didn't really fancy the food. The intestines were not braised long enough, and I didn't like they didn't have the big intestines. Average on the whole I guess, and I cannot see why they are considered popular. Maybe I share the same sentiments with most since there wasn't any queue when we were there.

Think I will try the other stall the next time we head there.

Kerri's 1st time at Fidgets Island

After the Winx Club show, we headed over to Fidgets Island at Paragon for some fun craft activity. This was Kerri's 1st time at Fidgets Island. And she chose to do the acrylic painting, just like Kae.

As this was Kerri's 1st time, I sneaked back to check on them now and then during the 90 minutes period. Thankfully Kerri behaved herself and was alright just being there with Kae. Yay! This means I can leave them there in the future for more shopping/alone time!

The Winx Club meet and greet

And so since this is the last day of the 1 month long school holidays, I decided to bring the girls out to the Winx Club show at Takashimaya today. Kae has suddenly developed a liking for the Winx Club, most likely from her friends.

As it was the last day of the holidays and the show had been going on for a while, it wasn't too crowded today.

Sanpoutei Ramen

I didn't have time to cook dinner before we left the house for the girls' Berries lessons today, so we head to Holland Village for dinner. Our first taste of Sanpoutei Ramen.

Sanpoutei's speciality is their Niigata Shoyu Ramen. Which I fell in love with. I am never a fan of shoyu flavor; usually I order shio. But their Niigata Shoyu Ramen just won me over. The broth was not typical shoyu tasting. And they served the ramen with aburi chashu, tenderly stewed no less. Easily my second/third favorite ramen shop after Santouka and Ikkousha!

Their Butariki Niigata Rice mini don was pretty great too. The pork, egg yolk and rice just tasted so good mixed together.

We ordered the deep fried spring chicken just for the oroshi yuzu ponzu sauce (which was mixed together with the grated radish placed on top of the chicken). Yes, we are yuzu and ponzu fans. But sadly, this dish was just average.

I reckon we will visit this shop very often in the many Wednesdays to come.

Ginza Bairin

Ginza Bairin was having a buy 1 get 1 free promotion via J Passport, and dar and I decided to have our dinner there tonight while the girls are at home with my parents.

The deal was so worth it! I hope they will have another similar promotion soon!

School holiday project

In true blue mummy fashion, the girls started their project work only during the last week of the 4 weeks school holidays. Oops.

Kae's theme was drama, so we thought we could make use of the cardboard box that we have at home currently to create a stage play of Charlie and Lola (a play which they just watched).

Kerri's theme was rain, so I googled for some ideas over the Internet, and decided that we would create a raincloud with falling raindrops. Raindrops keep falling on my head came to mind when I took this photo.

All done and completed within 2 days! Super!

Children Season 2014 at Asian Civilization Museum

I dragged dar along to one of the museum visits for the girls. Yes, to Asian Civilisations Museum on a saturday, one of the participating attractions for the Children's Season 2014.

The most interesting activity of the trip was that we had to fill in the blanks based on the animals painted on the wall. They are the clues to our filling in the blanks quiz. I learnt quite a few things that day. Hah!

Please refer to the link here for more information about the various activities available this Children's Season.

Cool De Sac

We met up with Kae's BFF for a play date today. At none other than the newly opened Cool De Sac located within Suntec City. What I like about this place is that they offer unlimited playtime per admission, so we can stay there the whole day with a one time payment. Also, please note that American Express card members enjoy a 15% discount on admission with the American Express cards till 31st December 2014. Details can be found here.

The girls had the most fun at the Backstage Area, where they queued very patiently for their tattoos and face painting.

This was also the first time I could let BOTH girls run around freely with their friends without having to keep a tight watch. Yes, Kerri doesn't need me to be around her anymore!

And guess who we saw while playing? The adorable Loh sisters!

The only complaint I have about this place is that there are no in house washrooms. So when the girls do need the washrooms, we have to walk right out into the shopping mall, and the washrooms are not exactly near. Other than this, I love the place. Food and beverages are good, served from Bistro Cool (which is part of Cool De Sac) just next door. It can get really crowded though from lunch time, so better head there before 12pm if you are making a trip down. One of the nicer indoor play areas for kids in town. I will definitely bring the girls back for more fun!

Dental visit for the girls

And it was time to visit the dentist! For the girls at least. I hate to have my teeth checked and cleaned unless absolutely necessary! Bad example.

Kae was alright as usual. In fact, she looks forward to receiving a small token from Uncle Dentist Toh at the end of her check-up.

Kerri on the other hand did not do so well. This was her first official visit as a dental patient. She was still all smiles when it was Kae's turn.

Then she grew scared when it was time for her check up, and dar had to hold her and sit on the chair together.

Even though she only had her teeth checked, She still received the small tokens from Uncle Dentist Toh. I dread her next visit!

Hard Rock Hotel Staycation Day 2 - Storytelling Comes Alive with Playmobil

After water play, we decided to head out for some storytelling before dinner. It was time for Storytelling Comes Alive with Playmobil located at Palawan Beach. Details of the event can be found here.

The girls had lots of fun at the session. The actors were really good at engaging the children into participating with them during the storytelling.

Runs from 31st May till 29th June 2014 at Palawan Beach, 11am-7pm

And then it was off to dinner at Kith Cafe!

As it was our anniversary dinner, I ordered my favorite Vongole!
