As mentioned in my earlier post, I was at New South Wales 9-19 Dec 06. Technically, I was at the airport on 8 Dec to check in, as my flight was a midnight flight 9 Dec 06.
Our first stop was at Blue Mountains. We stayed at town Leura, which is just next to Katoomba. The highlight of our trip to Blue Mountains was the 3
Sisters at Katoomba, and Kings Tableland Lookout at Wentworth Falls. The view at the latter was magnificiant. Of coz the 3 Sisters Giant Stairway walk was freaking tiring.
After 2 nights at Blue Mountains, we drove all the way to Hunter Valley. Our 1st day at Hunter Valley was the hottest day we experie
nced in Aussie, a whooping 39 degree celcius. HOT! But that did not stop us from having a good time at the Storybook Garden at Hunter Valley Gardens. Heehee. All my childhood memories were relived.
Of course, why go to Hunter Valley if you are not drinking? Kn
own for their wineries and vineyards, we had a great time tasting all their delicious wine. My favorite tasted was the Gewurz Traminer. It is white wine with a yummy tinge of lychee. And I usually dun like white wine. This goes very well with seafood, especially the fresh oysters I had. OOOOoooooooooooooo.
If you ever make a trip down to Hunter Valley and only have time to visit one vineyard, do go to Audrey Wilkinson Vineyard. It is the nicest one we visited.
Ooooh, and the hot air ballooning adventure we had was great! A bit steep though. Hah. We were in the air for 1 whole hour, and w
ere also involved in the preparation and keeping of the hot air balloon. It was an unforgettable experience which we nearly missed as the weather was not ideal for ballooning for the day that we booked. We had to reschedule to the next day, which also was our last morning at Hunter Valley.
After
2 nights in Hunter Valley, we drove to Port Stephens, Nelson Bay. The seaview at Nelson Bay was surreal. Damn nice. Do visit One Mile Beach. Nicest beach I have seen. And it is not too crowded with tourists. Nice to just sit on the sand and daydream about waterfront living. Oh, and you simply must go for dinner at d'Albora Ma
rina, where all the yachts and sailboats are docked. Simply relax and enjoy the fresh seafood there.
After 2 nights in Port Stephens, we drove to Sydney city, our last stop for the trip. We stayed at a fren's place for 3 nights, and spent our last night in Sydney at Hilton Hotel. One of my favourite place in Sydney is Bondi Beach. We took the long walk from Bondi to Bronte.
More like hiking. Hah. So bloody tired. I dun think I have ever walked that long in my life. But the views were fantas
tic. Oh, and you simply must go to this pub cafe Bondi Icebergs. It's situated at the edge of the Bondi Beach. Simply magnificiant views to take in while you are having your beer or meals.
Oh,
and the sashimi at the Sydney Fish Market was yummy and fresh! Nothing like what we have in Singapore. Sigh. I miss the fresh salmon.
The people in Sydney love to drink! They are all out drinking by
noon on Fridays. Hah. Also, all their nice eating restaurants come with a drinking bar area. Amazingly, they are also packed like hell, and we ended up waiting and drinking at the bar area for one and half hour before we can finally get down to dinner.
Nice place to go to for a trip. Heh. But I can't live there. No sizes of clothes and shoes for me to buy. Heh.
