High high high!

I was on a high the whole of tuesday.

Actually, it was a series of 3 comments made by 3 different people that made my day(s). Last friday when I brought Kae to her right brain training class, the teacher commented that I was a very young mum. How young exactly I didn't bother to probe; hey why push it? She already said I looked young!

The 2nd was when Aud's friend was shocked that I am a mother of a 15 month old toddler. Hah. Case in point.

The 3rd was the ultimate high. A taxi driver thought I just graduated from university. So I just played along with him and said yes. And he kept talking about how hard it is for undergraduates to find jobs now and ask me to preservere. Lastly he asked, so you were born in the year 1986 right? I was like whoar!

High high high! Hahaha.

of Classmates & Ex-colleagues

I met up with 2 groups of my friends over the weekend.

As we get older, it is always darn difficult to set a date and attempt to get every single one together to sit down for a meal and do some catching up. Hah. Now and then, there are always some who could not turn up due to work, family or other committments. But we do try. And try me and my friends did the 2 nights.

I met up with some of my JC classmates on friday for dinner and drinks and Brewerkz indoor stadium. These are the people who I've spent 2 years with in the same classroom, in the same school and in the same canteen. Yes, the canteen was one of our favourite places. Not to mention the library! Haha. This is really the minority of the group, as more than half of the usual gang cannot make it.

I then met up with my ex-colleagues from you owe me bank on saturday for dinner and drinks at Waraku Marina Square and Orgo Esplanade. These are the people whom I complained about the monthly sales targets to. These are the people whom I got to know during the course of my work and yet whom I've grown close to in a matter of group meetings, sales seminars and dance rehearsals. Heh. And we are meeting again on sunday in full strength (sort of) to go for some sun basking!

And these are the people Kae will get to know in her years to come :)

a Little Right Brain learning

I brought Kae to her 1st Right brain training class at Little Neuro Tree on friday morning. We initially wanted to register her at Shichida. But were told that the waiting time is a minimum of at least 6 months. And we had to pay a fee of $350 in order to get on the waiting list! Hur? I didn't even have to think twice about bringing Kae to Little Neuro Tree instead. This was recommended by a friend who is in the pre school education industry.

Being my 1st time at a right brain learning class, I really have no idea what to expect. Let me tell you, it is very tiring! We have to engage ourselves in all the activities; it is not just for the kids! I suspect this will be the most tiring one hour in every week of all my weeks to come. Hah. One unique aspect of Little Neuro Tree is that they conduct the classes in 3 languages; English, Mandarin and Japanese! We had the 1st lesson in english, and our next lesson will be in Japanese. I wonder how I am going to get through that; I know shit about the language! And Kae's only classmate is a pretty little japanese girl! Argh. I think me and Kae will be damn lost.

After our 1st lesson, we headed to Sakae sushi for lunch. I need Japanese food to reward myself! Hah. Sounds like I am the student and not Kae hur :P

learning to Shop

I brought Kae out to shop a bit before meeting daddy for dinner.

And boy does she lurves to shop! Think it's something about being in a shop where there are so many clothes or things to her that are so enticing and which are calling out to her: touch me touch me that gets her so hyped up. I literally had to hold her hand everywhere in the shop. Once her hands are not in mine, she would walk briskly all over the place. I spent like 20 minutes just in GAP alone trying to choose what to buy for her, because she's always all over the place and smiling at everyone else in the shop!

And she lurves to carry her own shopping bag! Haha.

whiny week

It is now thursday, 4th day of the week. But I am feeling like I have gone through 4 weeks!

Kae had been really whiny the past 4 days. I have no idea why. It is as though she wants constant attention from me and from the daddy when he's back home from work. I can't even leave her sight without her pouting and fake crying. Mind you, her fake crying is good; there are real tears and red eyes!

I am really looking forward to this coming friday and saturday nights when I am meeting my dear friends for dinner and drinks. But not before I have to wake up early to bring Kae to her 1st Neuro Tree class 1030am at Parkway on friday. And to her Gymboree class on saturday afternoon. It is solo for me these 2 days.

I hope I can survive.

Garden Dining

We went for brunch at Canopy Garden Dining & Bar. It seems like the perfect idea as we could just swing by after dropping Kae at Bishan today; it is located at Bishan Park II.

Canopy is the newest addition to the Asmara Group serving an Australian style café food complimented by a wide variety of new world wines. I have always have a thing for Aussie breakfast, especially after the yummy one I had at Bills Sydney. So I always would wanna try any place that serves Aussie style breakfast.

I had the Eggs Florentine with sides Mushroom and Chipolata sausages, while dar has their Buttermilk Pancakes topped with Bananas & Maple Syrup with additional yogurt. I thought mine was good; the spinach was yummy, the poached eggs were great. The pancakes were average only. Their Flat White was also average.

Compared to Jones the Grocer, I thought that the latter was better. But Canopy is a slightly cheaper alternative for above average Aussie brunch. And the fact that they are located in a garden sells on a good weather day.

Kae's 1st HOT date with Faber

It was a super HOT day, and we had to pick this day to bring Kae up to Mount Faber. The place has changed a bit since I last went up. For starters, there is no more Altivo, and in its place now are a few different restaurants. And there is of course the Henderson Waves. I wonder when I will walk on the waves. Hah. Maybe when Kae is older and doesn't sweat as much.

Kae's new seater

Kae's sofa finally arrived on Tuesday. She is still trying to get used to the fact that she is supposed to sit on her silver sofa and not on our family red sofa. Hah. Well, I try to make her see that by putting her Pooh Pooh on her sofa. We'll see how it goes the next few days. So far she's okay, but as she is quite restless, she can't sit for long. But at least now she runs to her silver sofa when I bring her munchies. She used to run to the red sofa when I do that.

a Few Hours of ME time

I took a few hours of ME time today. My parents are on their day offs, and they came over to look after Kae while I slip out.

Instead of heading down to town to shop shop, I decided to just nua at a coffee joint to read my books. Headed down to Parkway Parade, and ended up at Coffee Bean. Although I only nuaed for like 2 hours, it was heaven! I have really forgotten how good it felt to just laze around in a cafe and read and read and read. Of course, my iPod was with me, giving me all the loving music I need :)

Oh, and we bought Kae her 1st scribbler a few days ago. Guess which character she likes the most; she only says his name among all the others that we are trying to teach her to say, though not very accurately. Hah.

a Good friday with one Glitch

Let's talk about the good things 1st.

We went for a buffet lunch at Ellenborough Market Cafe, courtesy of the Feed at Raffles Gourmet card. I cannot remember the last time I was there. Maybe 7 or 8 years ago? I actually went without any expectations of the food as the reviews were not that fantastic at hungrygowhere.com. I always read up on the place that I am going to eat at just to be in the know of what to expect. The food was okay in my opinion, but maybe that's because I've already lowered my expectations. The main flaw is the selection is not very good, somehow the food is not warmly heated up although it is! And they only have 3 selections in the Japanese section; salmon sashimi which is not that cold, some marinated sea bass which is so so tasting, and some sushi rolls. Their dessert is not bad though; there is their ever famous durian pengat, and their ah ballings are quite good.

After lunch, we went for walk walk at Central Mall. Hmm, nothing much there, except if you want to eat there. They have quite a number of eateries there, and also Sun with Moon! Heh.

Oh, the glitch of the day is Kae's sofa, or the lack of it. We went to Marina Square to collect the sofa which was delivered from the warehouse. The bottom of one cushion has an opening, as a tear at the edge. So, we've decided that we want another piece, which means we got to wait. Till next tuesday. Was really hoping to get it today as Kae's 15 months old present. But for the amount we paid, I didn't want to settle for a less than perfect sofa. It is really a matter of principle. We should get exactly what we pay for. Why settle?

All in all, it was a good friday. A tiring friday.

Kae dances with Thomas

Kae just turned 15 months old! Hah. Time flies.

Here's Kae dancing to the song from Thomas and Friends. Please pardon the poor lighting. We forgot to switch on more lights until towards the end :P

the Start of Kae & Thomas

We went to Raffles City for dinner as mummy wanna shop at Robinsons to make use of the three $5 vouchers given.

Before shopping, we have to have dinner of course. And I was craving for my Chicken Caesar I had at Canele Orchard 1 month back. So we headed down to Canele Raffles City for my much needed fix. Alas, the version served at the Orchard branch is much nicer; the greens are much crispier and colder, the poached egg was done better. Sigh. Kae was naughty tonight. It took us quite a while to coax her to eat her dinner today. I wonder why. Hmmm.

Mummy bought a pair of comfy shoes. Yay! Both Kae and daddy took a rest while mummy tried on her shoes for size!

And we bought for Kae her beloved Thomas. Let's make this clear. Kae, this will be your 1st and last train. You are not a boy! Hah. I really have no idea why she loves Thomas & Friends. As will her passion for cars and balls. I think she takes after her daddy in ALL aspects, even in the choices of toys she plays with. Argh!

All washed out

Our glorious plan for a sentosa getaway were all washed out by the freaking heavy thunderstorm which happened around noon. I was waiting for a bus to head to orchard to meet Aud and I was damn scared that the lightnings would strike my bus stop. Hah. Scary. And as usual, the roads along the florist shops at Marymount were flooded; my bus was swimming in water literally.

We headed to Sun with Moon for their ever affordable and worth it set lunches. As usual, I had my favourite Tempura and Salmon Sashimi set, while Aud had her Cod Fish and Sashimi Salad set. And we shared hot sake. Yum! Ked joined us after her church service. But alas, the weather was still not that fantastic so we had to ditch the getaway plan. Long story short, we ended up at Junction 8 for coffee. And set the date 3rd May for another attempt to nua at the beach. And we are going to Hong Kong in August! Hah. This will be our 1st jiemei trip after so long. Of course Jas is going too.

Oh, Zach Zach poped by at night! But he was not in a good mood, so we only saw him for like 5 minutes? Another time maybe!

another day of Music & Hunting

It is Gymboree day! We went off to Tanglin Mall for Kae's music class at Gymboree. And she is really warming up! Kae always need a while to warm up to people and places she's not familiar with. So I am quite happy with her progress in class, thanks to teacher Stephanie :)

After class, we went to look for Daddy who was spending his time at Starbucks, having coffee and reading newspapers. And guess what Kae was doing there? Hah!

We also let Kae take her 1st ride at the rides. She was quite terrified really, but I managed to coax her to sit through the ride. It costs $1!

After Tanglin Mall, we headed off to Marina Square, as we haven't been there for a while, and also to see if we could get any sofa deals for Kae. Viola! We went into Molecule and found many many sofas specially for kids! Heehee. Guess which one we bought for Kae? It will arrive from their warehouse next week!

We ended the day with dinner at Sushi Tei, Playground at Big Splash, followed by a slow walk along ECP.

And I am now looking forward to hitting sentosa with the gals and guy later on! Pray for good weather yah?

of Playschools and Learning

I need recommenations for playschools, anyone? Kae will be turning 18 months old in July 2009. Will start to put her in playschools then. I am now on the lookout for recommended schools, as I have no idea which schools are good, what programmes each school offer, etc. I am at a loss!

Have started to call 3 schools, MindChamps Preschool, Schoolhouse by the Bay and Modern Montessori International PreSchool. Of these 3, the last left the worst impression on me. They just told me that the admission for year 2009 is full, and didn't even offer me more information and if there is a waiting list. Out you go! The 1st offers both full and half day programmes but alas is quite expensive. The 2nd only offers 3 hour programmes for playgroup students. Sigh.

Please let me know if you have any recommendations. It's hunting time!

Killing Time

Out of boredom, I brought Kae to White Sands today.

I had time to kill as Kae woke up super early; she started to whine and flip and flap around at 10am, until she finally woke at 1055am. After her lunch at 1230pm, I was wondering what to do with her till her nap time at 4pm. You see, usually she wakes around 11-12pm, have lunch at 1-130pm, bathe at 2-230pm, hence the pocket of Kae time is not that long. Today that time started at 1pm! Argh. So instead of just going to the playground, we took a bus to the nearest shopping centre, White Sands.

We went to Xin Wang Hong Kong Cafe, where I had some dim sum and a iced yuan yang.

The food there is so so only. But I could not think of what else to do with Kae there as there are NO shops for us to shop. As usual, Kae was kept busy eating her biscuits.

And as usual, she stares at everybody who is in her line of sight, and started to smile and play with them.

After makan, we went to the library for a while, but there are no books that I would like to borrow; all the books I want are either on loan or reserved. Hence, after just 1 and 1/2 hours, we headed home. I think I need to move to somewhere more interesting. I am bored.

Lucky

This is the music video of "Lucky" by Jason Mraz featuring Colbie Caillat (taken from youtube.com). Enjoy!

Do you hear me,
I'm talking to you
Across the water across the deep blue ocean
Under the open sky, oh my, baby I'm trying
Boy I hear you in my dreams
I feel your whisper across the sea
I keep you with me in my heart
You make it easier when life gets hard

I'm lucky I'm in love with my best friend
Lucky to have been where I have been
Lucky to be coming home again
Ooohh ooooh oooh oooh ooh ooh ooh ooh

They don't know how long it takes
Waiting for a love like this
Every time we say goodbye
I wish we had one more kiss
I'll wait for you I promise you, I will

I'm lucky I'm in love with my best friend
Lucky to have been where I have been
Lucky to be coming home again
Lucky we're in love every way
Lucky to have stayed where we have stayed
Lucky to be coming home someday

And so I'm sailing through the sea
To an island where we'll meet
You'll hear the music fill the air
I'll put a flower in your hair
Though the breezes through trees
Move so pretty you're all I see
As the world keeps spinning round
You hold me right here right now

I'm lucky I'm in love with my best friend
Lucky to have been where I have been
Lucky to be coming home again
I'm lucky we're in love every way
Lucky to have stayed where we have stayed
Lucky to be coming home someday
