Playhouse Disney

Mummy finally brought Kae to the Playhouse Disney workshop on last friday.

As mummy need to spend $30 in single receipt to gain access into the workshop, I ate a total of $34 at Crystal Jade! Can you imagine that! Hah. Me and dar together sometimes spend less than this amount when we BOTH eat there. Yes, the workshop is not free. And I decided that we would go after her neuro tree class on friday mornings as it would be less crowded then; it is the school holidays after all.

My efforts did not really pay off. Kae was in her cranky mood again. Argh. She did not participate in any of the activities except pushing the tricycle and playing with the little balls. Hiak. My girl for you. Well, at least I try to make her toddler life more interesting. In a sense. Hah.

2 Tiny discoveries on a Tuesday

Okay, my mother decided to clear some of her overtime off and took a tuesday off, so I was free for 2 tuesdays in a row! Heh.

I made 2 discoveries on tuesday. First pleasant discovery, Decleor Institute. I was just itching to go for a facial since I didn't have anything else to do. Don't get me wrong. I am not the typical tai tai who goes for facial, high tea, mahjong, when I have nothing to do. This was only my 4th facial in my life! My first was at a HDB place when I was in junior college and tagged along with my mother. The 2nd and 3rd were when I was pregnant, and I couldn't stand doing massages. So there. My only routine luxury is my pedicure sessions, which only occur once every 6-8 weeks. So there again.

Decleor was highly recommended by Huimin. Hah. I asked the right person! The facial is nothing like the ones I done at Asian Spa at Fullerton Hotel (my 2nd) and Aspara Spa at Amara Hotel (my 3rd). I took the facial that comes with a 15 minutes back massage, the Aromaplastry. It is a multi-vitamin treatment with a delicious and surprising texture. It comforts, nourishes and relaxes the skin with 100% natural flax seeds, wheat germ and sunflower seeds. I lurve the smell of the mask! Smells like oat, yummy! All in all, the experience was heavenly! How can one complain with the heated pillow placed at the tummy area, a heated bed, soothing music, nice smelling essential oils, the comfortable massage strokes on the face, etc. Hah. I will bring dar there one day and he will fall in love with the facial too and buy us the package! Wahaha. Yes, he will be reading this! :P So until I find another good facial place with a less steep price tag, Decleor is the one.

My second unpleasant discovery, Gelare has closed down? We went to Suntec City happily on a Tuesday for Gelare, as their waffles are sold half their usual price on every Tuesday. Imagine our surprise when the outlet is now closed, and there was a note which mentioned that the shop is closed for renovation. But the shop name was not specified. Hmm. I knew that the outlet at City Link mall has closed down. But never mind. We thought we could try the outlet at Siglap. Lo and behold, the one at Siglap has closed down and taken over by another cafe. And the thing is, the old Gelare outlet is still intact. The new cafe only took down the Gelare sign. The furniture and shop still is the same. It's like as if Gelare has closed down overnight! Apparently, the outlets at East Coast Park, Far East Plaza and Plaza Singapura are no longer in operation too. Sigh. And the website http://www.gelare.com.sg/ is no longer in use. Argh, there goes my honey malt crunch flavored ice-cream. Sigh. So, Scoopz and Island Creamery will be seeing more of me. Hah!

Recent videos of Kae

It has been quite a while since we've videoed Kae. So we did the past weekend.

This was taken at Jacob Ballas Children's Garden. Kae enjoyed herself at the waterplay area, and she didn't want to leave! Until she realises that she's wet. Hah!

This was taken at home. Kae was dancing happily and stopped when she realised mummy was video whoring. Hah! Shy? NOT!

We were at Jones the Grocer for brunch when Kae decided to do her act cute face like her daddy who was behind the camera. Ain't she a sweetie?

Oh, and she has one name for all the sesame street characters: ERNIE! Haha. She keeps saying ERNIE even though she was hugging COOKIE!

a packed Father's Day weekend

Boy, were we busy the last few days!

I was up and about early on friday, if you refer to my previous post. I was up and about early on saturday and sunday too. I am damn tired! Hah! As mentioned in my previous post, we went to Jacob Ballas Children's Garden located at the Singapore Botanic Gardens. I had been on the lookout for places to bring Kae to so that she won't be bored with just hanging out at shopping centres every weekend. Viola! Actually I heard of this from Cherine, and I saw an article about JBCG at Neuro Tree. So we went. Erm, but not before we went to Bestway Building for the best Bak Chor Mee in Singapore, High Street Tai Wah Pork Noodle! Yummy!

We didn't manage to find the parking right at the JBCG. Instead we parked at the Cluny Gate carpark, but no matter, the walking distance from where we were to JBCG was bearable! Heehee. We were real lucky actually. As the weather was kind to us. It was not sunny at all, and it didn't rain; it seemed like it would.

Of all the stations at JBCG, Kae lurves the waterplay area and the suspension bridge the best. She walked back and forth on the bridge like 4 times, and she didn't want to leave the waterplay area. Until we had to forcibly drag her away. Hah!

As we were like just minutes away from Serene Centre, we went for ice-cream at Island Creamery. We had their mud pie, and 2 scoops of Pulut Hitam and Nutella ice-cream. Yum! I lurve the Pulut Hitam. Yum! This is now my 2nd favourite ice-cream place after Scoopz. I will be scouting for more ice-cream places, hahaha. And from where we were sitting, I manage to find photographs of 2 people we know; you can print your pictures at Island Creamery and they will be pinned up on their wall. Hah.

We ended the night with dinner at Tambuah Mas. Hmm, somehow the standard seemed to have drop. Think we will just stick to their yummy curry puffs in future instead.

We decided to celebrate Father's Day with brunch at Jones the Grocer, and their food did not disappoint! It is only our 2nd time there, and Kae's 1st. Dar had the pancakes again as Kae (and dar himself will) can only eat that. I had the Jones breakfast which I thought was delish! I want to go back for more!

We didn't make it for Kae's last session at Gymboree as the poor dear was too tired, and she drifted to sleep immediately in the car after we left Jones the Grocer. So, off we went to Suntec City to walk walk (again). And we discovered that Kae lurves cookie monster and big bird! Hah! Maybe that's because she always play with the magnets of these 2 characters at home. She cried when we took the cookie monster away from her. Luckily not for long though.

I seriously suspect she lurves soft toys. Maybe I should start to bring out my boxes of soft toys from Bishan to wash and pass all to her. Hah!

a Tiring Friday

I finally made it on time to Kae's Neuro Tree class today. Hah. Yes, I called a cab! Could not be bothered to wait for cabs anymore on a friday morning, you can refer to my previous post for my horrendous experience. Anyway, I just need to attend 1 more class next friday and then it is term break! Lessons will commence in the 2nd or 3rd week of July, and Kae ould be attending the saturday classes then, as she should be in playschool by then. Erm, should be, as we still haven't enrol her in any school. Hah!

Anyway, as usual, after class we went to Pasta Mania for lunch. There as it is not that crowded, and they serve the food to me and help me get the baby chair. Hah. But Kae was not very into pasta today; she didn't finish her share. Hmmm.

After lunch, we went to walk walk around Parkway Parade. I decided to give Kae a treat and the treat is Scoopz ice-cream! More specifically, mango ice-cream! Yum! Heehee.

After ice-cream, off to Borders we go. Kae lurves to go bookstores. Hah! Like mummy! Yay! And I bought 2 story books for. 2 Ladybird books to be precise, the Read It Yourself series; a series of graded readers designed to give young children a confident and successful start to reading. The 2 books, Cinderella & The Princess and The Pea are Level One titles suitable for children who are just beginning to take their first steps in reading.

And as usual, Kae wanted to carry her own shopping bag! Hah.

I was damn tired when we got home in the afternoon. Just in time for Kae to bathe, drink milk and nap before we head out in the evening to Marina Square to meet daddy for dinner after work. Macs! Hah. Where else.

We will be heading to Jacobs Ballas Children's Garden on saturday (later on!) if weather permits. Woohoo! Looking forward to that!

Tiffin not Tiffany

We went to the Tiffin Room for the Tiffin Curry Buffet, complimentary of Feed at Raffles Gourmet.

I was actually quite impressed with Tiffin Room’s décor and ambience. It reflects the Hotel’s glory days from the turn of the century to the 1930s.

However, the 1st thing that hit us when we reach the restaurant was actually the very very very strong Indian food smell. The Tiffin Curry Buffet, features traditional Indian and Asian specialities, although more on the Indian side. The wow sort of just ended with the decor and ambience. The food was nothing to shout about. In fact, I doubt anyone would go back there for a second time after the first. I can find better and so much cheaper Indian food at hawker stalls. Seriously. I have no idea why this place even exists till now. It is that bad. The saving grace towards the end of the dinner would be the mango. Yes, the mango fruit is good. That good.

My one lurve: My Reads!

I lurve to read. I think this habit was kinda nurtured when I was young. My parents always bring us to the bookstore whenever we go out shopping. I remember that we always go to the then Orchard Yaohan, the now Plaza Singapura, to shop. And I would always ask them to bring me to the basement level of Yaohan where children's books are, or to Times bookshop at the 4th or 5th level. Hah.

Of course reads for study are not my favourite kind of books. I am talking about comics and novels. I lurve lurve lurve to read Slamdunk, until they came out with the cartoon television version. I bought the whole series of VCDs. I lurve to read The Archie comics, especially Betty and Veronica. FYI, I am still buying B&V. Yes. I will pass the entire collection to Kae when she's older. Hah!

I lurve Mitch Albom. His works was introduced to me by an ex-colleague long before his "Tuesdays with Morrie" became such a hit. I lurve Tony Parsons, especially his "Man and Boy". I lurve Tami Hoag, especially her "Night Sins" and "Guilty as Sin". And now my current favourite is Jodi Picoult.

After reading Jodi Picoult's "My Sister's Keeper", there was no turning back for me. I went and bought more of her books. See, I lurve to buy books. I do not like to borrow books. So whichever author I grow to lurve, their collection of books will start to grow in my bookshelf too.

So today, one of my bi-weekly off days when my parents will come over and cover my ass, I went to Pacific Coffee at Vivocity to finish reading Jodi Picoult's "Handle With Care". This book *explores the knotty tangle of medical ethics and personal morality. When faced with the reality of a fetus who will be disabled, at which point should an OB counsel termination? Should a parent have the right to make that choice? How disabled is TOO disabled? And as a parent, how far would you go to take care of someone you love? Would you alienate the rest of your family? Would you be willing to lie to your friends, to your spouse, to a court? And perhaps most difficult of all – would you admit to yourself that you might not actually be lying?*

Seriously, go pick up one of Jodi Picoult's books if you are a novel lover. You will be itching for more. I am itching now. Hah!

Supper Spizza Saturday!

We brought my parents to Spizza at Club Street for dinner as it was my dad's birthday.

This was my 2nd visit to Spizza; my 1st was to the oulet at Holland Village a few years back, it has since closed down. As with my 1st visit, I thought that their pizza was good although I do not think they were super fantastic, but of course, they taste better than the thick crusted pizzas at Pizza Hut. Oh and they do delivery service too! Idea for home parties! Apparently, lots of people love their pizzas, as the chef was super busy whipping up pizzas one after another! Yes, the pizzas are all done on the spot for all to view :)

Kae as usual was her cheeky self and caught the attention of the ladies at the table next to ours who were also there for a birthday celebration. So much so that they gave her a little birthday cupcake to her delight. Yes, Kae had her 1st taste of a cupcake. Hah.

It's a Freaking Friday!

Okay, I was damn pissed on friday. Hah. Kae was to go for her Neuro Tree class at 1030am. So we went down at around 955am to take a cab to Parkway Parade. Which never happened!

Long story short, I waited 30 freaking minutes in all and still did not manage to hail a cab. I can never understand where all the cabs have gone, and why are all the cabs that passed by me not empty. Weren't they complaining that there was an over supply of cabs, and under demand of customers? NOT! Standing in the freaking hot sun for freaking 30 minutes with an additional weight of 11 plus kilograms is no joke. And I am not taking my big bag into consideration.

I went out of my main gate and waited near the traffic light in front of my estate. After like 10 minutes, I decided to walk to the next road where usually, I can get a cab. But that did not happen. Finally I got fed up and called the school that I would be postponing Kae's lesson as I could not get a cab. And there still was no empty cab in sight while I was walking back home. What the hell?

As if I wasn't feeling bad enough, Kae bumped her head less than 10 minutes after I stepped back into my estate. ARGH! It was a freaking big bump! And it is still a bit yellowish in colour now as I type.

I decided that I desperately needed comfort food. So me and Kae went to White Sands Shopping Centre BY BUS! Hah. We went to Coffee Club for my much needed garlic prawn pasta! Felt so much better after lunch. Hah. Too much heatedness and excitement in one freaking 1st half of the day. Bah! And I discovered that Kae doesn't like broccoli soup! Hah!

Zit

I actually have lots to say. Just that I am too tired to type anything now. So, good night all. Till the next time when I have the strength and energy to pen down my thoughts. Oh, and I am currently loving the chinese theme song from the chinese drama, 双子星. The song is titled 寂寞光年 and is sung by 刘力扬.

Time when the size 0-6 months fit

I was clearing out the old baby clothes Kae wore when she was younger to make space for her ever growing apparel collection. Mummy always buy clothes for Kae, but only when they are on sale. Heh. It is always nice and fun to dress up a daughter. And hair clips are another story altogether.

I manage to drag myself through hell and back in the clearing and packing. I am tickled at how small the clothes are; how the hell did Kae fit into those clothes then? Hiak. Memories are oh so sweet. I do love this particular baby gap romper. Erm, the picture is not clear. But she is wearing the romper I oh so love when we went to shop for her stroller back then. And did she make her choice! Hah. See the difference in her when placed in the 2 strollers.

And this is the absolute favourite photo for me of her when she was like 2 months old. Isn't she a darling?

Sigh, and my darling is oh so naughty now. Terror! Bleah.

Happy 17th month day Kaelyn!

And my Kae is now officially 17 months old. 1 month to her starting playschool. *evil grinz*

Short Haired Kae

Kae cut her hair last saturday. As in the hair all around. As in front and back and sides. And man did she brawl! Hah. Her face turned red and she started to kick daddy who was carrying her while her hair got cut. That is why her hair looks kinda uneven now. Hah.

Plus I think she looks more KL in her short hair do when she is doing her KL face. And she was watching TV loh!

Hur? I dun understand

I dun understand why people are still spending money like nobody's business when we are supposed to to be in a recession. There were long queues outside Gucci and Prada shops in orchard. There is always a long queue outside Louis Vuitton at Taka. And there were freaking long queues at Robinsons Centrepoint today. Argh. There werent even so many people when the sale and discounts were a better bargain than now.

I dun understand why Kae always whine for her daddy when the mummy is the one taking care of her all day every day. Maybe she will only miss and whine for her when she is off to playschool. Bleah!

I dun understand why Clarke Quay is suddenly so happening. There are still the same old shops, with the same old population a few years ago.

I dun understand why some pre schools charge so much more than others. Are they really that good?

I dun understand why bad things seem to befall my one group of friends when we are supposed to meet up for catching up. Hah. Or the weather will be the main culprit.

I dun understand why it is always the daughter in law who seems to be not in favor with the parents. How come the son in law is always the perfect guy whom the parents can count on to take care of the daughter.

More to be posted as soon as I get to not understand more stuff :)

M, M, and M!

Finally visited some pre-schools today; Character Montessori at Elias Road, Modern Montessori at Elias Road and Mindchamps at Tampines. Hence the post title. Hah. let's just talk about the things I am not so comfortable with about each school.

The thing I do not like about the 1st is that the teachers are erm filipinos. Not that I am biased against them. Just that it is a tad difficult to understand their english accent. What if Kae grows up to talk like them. And the place looks kinda run down.

The 2nd place is erm more cheena. The english standard of the lady who attended to us was erm not very impressive. Mind you, and we only talked to her for like less than 5 minutes; we were told to go by this saturday to take a tour of the place instead. And the place was not air-conditioned. At least the downstairs area was not. And Kae really does need her cold air.

The 3rd place is freaking expensive! Argh.

Okay, so that is the summary. Hah. Maybe should find out more about their teaching methods instead of focusing on their bad points. Oh, and we saw Mikaela when we went to Mindchamps! Heehee. She is really such a sweetie. How cool will it be if Kae goes to the same school as Miki? Heehee.
