Day after hic'Juice Restore Cleanse

Day after the 3 day cleanse: I feel like doing it again!

Yes! Somehow I woke up craving for a bottle of juice rather than my usual bread or cereal breakfast. I wanted to go for my hot yoga class today, and I made myself have a piece of peanut butter bread before heading off.

I did feel a bit giddy during hot yoga, but only during poses which I have to bend my head forward/down. Other than that I felt great doing the 26 poses.

And I decided to eat clean today. My very first salad from Salad Stop for lunch located within Pasar Bella. And I must say Toss & Turn still rock!

My thoughts after the 3 day cleanse? I would gladly do it again, and am now thinking of doing the 5 day cleanse the next time round in a few months time. It is not difficult I think. Except for the first day. But gradually, your body will get used to the diet. And I still get on with my life as per normal. Going to the supermarket, bringing the girls out and attempting a jog after 6 weeks. I might try to do hot yoga during the 5 day cleanse the next round. And the juices, other than Kaleidoscope, taste good.

Sigh, now I'm craving for the Nut Milk as I type.

updated on 14th April 2013: p.s, please do not take this program as a means to lose weight. The weight will come back eventually once you start your solid intake, as did mine.

hic'Juice Restore Cleanse Day 3

On to my last day of cleanse!

Somehow I felt very peaceful today. It's like I know today is the last day and I am very confident of getting through the day. With my usual caffeine intake of course.

I was very happy with 4 Carats as my breakfast bottle. Really got me into a chirpy mood for a slow jog. Yes! I am attempting to jog today. Usually I finish 9.3-9.6km in 60 minutes. So I told myself I would just run a minimum of 6km or 40 minutes, whichever is higher.

I think it was the lack of carbo, but my body felt weak after 10 minutes on the treadmill. So I psyched myself up to finish at least 5km. That I managed in a lousy timing. But my lousy timing might not be the result of the cleanse or the lack of carbo. I haven't been jogging for the past 6 weeks! So maybe it was just my lazy body.

After the jog, I gulped down the bottle of Lemon N Spice. I think this flavor is really growing on me. One thing to note, I don't usually feel hungry after a workout. Call me crazy, but I usually would drink water after my jog or hot yoga, and I could just carry on as per normal without feeling hungry. I usually have my workouts during lunch time and by the time I'm done and bathed, I could just survive with liquid. So I don't see any issue about having a detox and doing workouts at the same time. What I can actually achieve in my workouts during detox is another matter.

I had to bring the girls to their classes again in the afternoon. So I had the 3rd bottle Oh My Greens before I left the house. And I brought along the 4th bottle Green Lemonade in my Pigeon Cooler Bag to drink for dinner later while the girls are having their classes as I would be out till after dinner since we would be at my in-laws' for dinner. I told the maid that I had early dinner when the girls were having their classes to escape from eating. Yes, I still use the Pigeon Cooler Bag when I need to bring drinks, yoghurt etc out for the girls. Hah!

My last 2 drinks for the cleanse just had to be the 2 flavors I'm not very keen on. Well, at least I was warming up to Lemon N Spice. A total of 4 out of 18 bottles of this for the 3 days cleanse. And since it was my last bottle, I just gulped down Kaleidoscope like it was water.

I did it!

hic'Juice Restore Cleanse Day 2

And it's Day 2!

I decided to skip my weekly wednesday hot yoga class today, in case I feel faint. I always feel so weak when I don't have my breakfast before heading to hot yoga classes.

My first bottle Heart Beet was easy to drink too. Tasted like Popeye Smoothie to me.

My lunch bottle was Oh My Greens! The name was scary enough to put me off, but as with Green Lemonade, it tasted great! Yah I know it is hard to believe, but believe me!

The next bottle of Cool As A was equally alright. I think I'm starting to love all the green drinks!

So far, I've not felt as hungry as yesterday. I think my body is slowly adjusting to my diet. And I cheated again this morning. I had my usual cup of nespresso when I woke. I just cannot give this up. I cannot imagine how I went through my days without coffee when I was pregnant. I do feel more refreshed too, and I am thinking of attempting a jog tomorrow.

As I went out in the afternoon to bring my girls to their Berries classes, I was quite hungry by the time i got home in the late evening. And I had to cook and feed the girls first before I had my 4th bottle at 8pm. The dreaded Lemon N Spice. I think it was either my hunger or that I'm more used to the taste now, it didn't taste too bad this time round.

I really do not fancy any drink with Cayenne Pepper. My 5th drink Kaleidoscope is the one I dislike the most out of all the juices I had to drink. I literally had to gulp down each mouthful. And my face went eek every single time.

The night ended with a bottle of Pure Coconut Water. Yum.

One thing to note, I felt super tired only towards the end of the night. Usually I head to bed at around half past midnight. But today, I surrendered to dreamland at 1115pm!

One last day tomorrow!

hic'Juice Restore Cleanse Day 1

I've always been curious about detox. I tried the Master Cleanse once last year and I only lasted 2 days. And during that 2 days I cheated: I munched a bit here and there. And so, when thebokeeffect had a promotional code going on courtesy of hic'Juice, I decided to take the plunge. And I decided to be more gung ho and opted for the 3 days Level 2 Restore cleanse. Even though it was encouraged for first timers to start with the Level 1 Reboot cleanse. Well, technically, I did try the Master Cleanse. And I was looking at the difference between the Reboot and Restore Cleanse. The main difference is that for Reboot, you start out with more fruits than greens. And the 1st and 2nd days of juice cleanse for Restore seem to be what one will get for the 2nd and 3rd days for Reboot respectively.

My intention was to take the 3 days cleanse when the man was on his week long business trip but I missed the date line to order to start on that day I wanted. Hence, I started a week later.

I was all excited about trying the juice detox. Will I faint? Will I succumb to my hunger pangs and cravings? I am a greedy person.

So as promised, the juices were delivered to me at around 8 plus at night in 3 bags. The bags were labelled for the 3 days, and the juices were also labelled in the order we are to take them.

One thing bugged me though. The juices were supposed to be kept in glass bottles, but a few days after payment and before my cleanse started, they emailed me to and informed that they ran out of the glass bottles and juices would be stored and delivered in plastic bottles instead. In this case, I think they should have kept stock of how many glass bottles they still have and made it known to the customers prior to order and payment.

I woke up the next morning, excited to try out my first bottle.

Order of the drinks for the day from top left clockwise and bottom left clockwise.

Determined not to cheat this time round, I even forgo my precious caffeine. I took my first bottle at around 1030am. Yes, I wake late and I wanted to start only after the girls have gone to school. The Popeye Smoothie tasted alright. Tasted exactly like a fruit juice.

I didn't fancy the 2nd bottle: Lemon N Spice. I didn't like the cayenne pepper in the Master Cleanse and I sure don't like it now. But it was drinkable. Nothing to make me gag.

I felt quite hungry by 2pm and so I drank more water. That seemed to help. But another problem kicked in. My head was throbbing. I think for some, it may be the hunger pangs kicking in. But for me, it was the absence of caffeine in my body. I eventually caved it and though it was not recommend, I had my cup of nespresso coffee. My only cheat. And my migraine slowly went away. Throughout the day, whenever I felt slightly hungry, I just gulped down a bottle of water.

Then it was time for my 1st green bottle, Green Lemonade. And I was pleasantly surprised that the juice doesn't taste bad at all. Well, I could taste the cucumbers and lettuce, but it was yummy in a green way. I thought this was way better than Lemon N Spice.

Because I started late, I had my fourth bottle for dinner. 4 Carats was quite sweet and I loved it! By this time of the day, I didn't feel hungry. I think my body had gotten used to the fact that I am detoxing and taking in no solids and just liquid.

The next 2 bottles are my favorites. The Pure Coconut Water and the Nut Milk. The Pure Coconut Water was really refreshing and the easiest to drink. But somehow it tasted diluted and not as thick as when you drink the juice from the coconut itself. The Nut Milk seemed to be everyone's favorite drink (as what I read on the other blogs). The almond taste was quite apparent in the Nut Milk and I'm not a great fan of almond. But this was the thickest and yummiest drink I have to agree, if not for the almond taste.

And I passed Day 1 with 1 cheat! Let's see how I do the next 2 days!
