Bistro Du Vin

I have been on the lookout for good french food ever since the food standard dropped at Au Petit Salut due to the departure of one of their chefs.

Bistro Du Vin is the perfect substitute.

Located at Shaw Centre, with their pricing of $30++ for a 3 course set lunch menu, it looks set to steal the customers over from Au Petit Salut, which is a stone's throw away.

Of course I had to have their pan seared foie gras with brioche crumble, candied almonds and quince jelly (add $6).

While dar had their Char-grilled Aus. Angus ribeye with green asparagus and bearnaise sauce (add $10), I ordered their Pork shoulder and smoked pork belly braised in red wine with olive, pimento, onion and madeira.

His ribeye tastes just like heaven, how red meat should be eaten.

Mine was rich and melted in my mouth, drizzled in red wine goodness.

One downside is that their desserts are just average though.

Their Madeleine with chocolate mousse is nothing to rave about, while their chestnut cake with whipped cream and vanilla ice cream, is just passable.

Chalk and Cheese

My 2 girls are as different as chalk and cheese.

It's quite evident in their looks, though I still think they both resemble the dad. Character wise, they are the exact opposite of each other.

Kae is quiet and doesn't smile readily at strangers. An obedient child by nature, she listens to us if we talk to her nicely and preps her beforehand for anything major. She can entertain herself while I do the household chores at home. Though a bit whiny at times, she is quite easy to appease, with her favorite toys, sweets and books.

She enjoys eating whatever I cook for her, which makes it super easy when we bring her out. She loves carbo, mainly her pasta and noodles. The best thing about her is that she could sleep through the night before she was 6 months old.

Kerri is the exact opposite. She is loud and smile at every Tom, Dick and Harry. A defiant child by nature, she doesn't listen to us and literally lies on the floor and cries whenever she doesn't get her way. She is super clingy, and I can only do the household chores while she is sleeping, which doesn't count for much as she fidgets a lot during her sleep cycle. A little tigress is she, we still haven't figure a way to appease her. But I simple refuse to give in to her. I enjoy watching her wail actually. How sadistic am I.

She is a super fussy eater, and eat almost nothing except milk. She can take rice for lunch and refuse to eat rice for dinner. Even when she does eat, it's just a few teaspoons worth. A fickle minded eater she is. You never know what her appetite craves for each time. And a bad habit she has, like a hamster, she loves to keep the food in her mouth and spits out everything after a while. She still cannot sleep through the night at 18 months old. Help!

Trees of the World

We went down to Botanic Gardens to take a look at the Trees of The World event.

The gardens was a tad dark at night; we went to the side that was nearer to the newly opened Botanic Gardens MRT station. The whole garden was lighted up because of the numerous decorated Xmas trees adorned by the different communities and schools.

Kae was being her whacky self and posed for the photos. And these are just a few of the many she took.

YK's 25 days of Xmas

Remember my previous post about Yumi Kim?

Luckily for me, I didn't purchase the dresses that day. I was browsing through their official site and contemplating about buying the dresses online instead. It retails for USD194 while in Singapore it costs $390. I guess there will be around 15-20% savings if I purchase it online (with the shipping costs factored in).

To my joy, after deliberating about the dresses for a while days, Yumi Kim announced their 25 days of giveaway! Yup! For 25 days in December, they will be selling 25 pieces at USD50 each! Yipee!

And I bought my very first Yumi Kim Goddess dress. Heehee.

Our 1st tree in our new House

Our Xmas tree has not seen the light of day since Kae was born. Yup, since 2008. And since Kerri is quite the itchy hand child, it was decided that we will try to put up the tree next year instead.

So, here's presenting our mini stand in Xmas tree. Not much, but it will have to do.
