1st Family trip Overseas - Taipei Day 1

And so, we applied for Kerri's passport 2 weeks before it was approved 1 week later. And we bought the air tickets and made the hotel booking right after the passport collection, which is just 1 week before the big trip. Yup, our first ever family overseas trip. Destination: Taipei.

As Kae's last plane rides were more than 2 years back, I was quite worried that she might not enjoy the ride now since she's older and is more aware of things. So, I tried to psych her up before the trip, all about how fun it is to take the plane, and how fun it would be to be in Taipei. And of course I told the same to Kerri too, but I don't think she understood what I was trying to tell her. I could only cross my fingers and hope for the best.

And yes, there's a super mini play area for the kids at the boarding area.

As we took the less popular flight, the plane was only about 60-70% full. So we were super lucky to get a "free" seat next to us. Which proves to come in handy as Kerri wants one seat all to herself! We didn't even let her try the bassinet.

The plane ride was quite smooth sailing for us! Just that Kerri slept a short while only and was whiny for a tad bit. But that's good enough!

It was evening by the time we checked into the hotel. Our hotel for the next four night was Les Suites Taipei at Da-An. They were kind enough to upgrade us to a deluxe suite, which is god send for us as the kids would have a much bigger space to run around in since the room comes with a large living area.

It so happened that dar had a few friends who were holidaying in Taipei too, so we met up for dinner. Dinner was super yummy and you got to visit this place when you are in Taipei. It;s called 鼎王麻辣鍋.

We had their 鴛鴦鍋 broth, which consists of their famous spicy mala broth and the non-spicy cabbage broth. One special ingredient that can be found in their mala broth are the chunks and chunks of duck blood! It tastes quite good actually. Chewy in texture, it almost tastes like foie gras!

And we had quite a lot of their abalone too!

Pity I couldn't see to my heart's content, as I had to look after the kiddos. Sigh.

Drawing together

Another new activity which the girls love doing together: drawing.

Only downside is that Kerri doesn't know what she is drawing and Kae will just draw nonsensical stuff along with the sister.

Flats and Jeans

I seldom wear jeans nowadays. And even when I do, it's paired together with heels. Today however, I decided to go with flats.

And boy do I feel fat in flats and jeans. Argh. I need to lose weight.

a Bag seat?

Aren't seats supposed to be for people to sit on, and not for people's bags to be put?

I really have no idea what the kids learn in schools nowadays.

usual weekend at ECP

Even though we do not live in the east anymore, we still drive there frequently. Case in point, East Coast Park.

We love to go to eat at the hawker centre, to Playground at Big Splash for food. More recently, we go to the latter as Kae loves to ride her scooter/strider bike, and we would adjourn to Old Town White Coffee for dinner after.

Today is no exception. After their afternoon nap, we drove there for Kae's rides.

She wanted the scooter initially.

But after like 5 minutes, she decided she wanted to ride the strider bike instead. Luckily for us, we were still relatively near the car to do the exchange.

And while Kae scoots or rides, Kerri walks. Hah!

It so happened that there was a mini fair at Playground at Big Splash today. You know, that kind that is set up temporarily. And since Kae isn't one who usually asks for a train ride, we obliged her this time round.

And we ended the day with the girls' favorite Ipor Chicken Hor Fun at Old Town White Coffee.
