Bye Bye WW

We are finally selling our old place. The completion date is just 4 days away, so we took the chance to take a look for one last time before handing the keys over to the lawyer the next day.

I am so going to miss this place. It's where we stayed since we got married. It's the place where Kae and Kerri were born in.

Bye Bye WW. Hope your second owners will be good to you.

The Coastal Settlement

We travelled all the way to the East today. It seems like there are more eateries and cafes sprouting up in the East ever since we moved away from there.

The Coastal Settlement is a must go to eat dining place.

Erm, the food is alright, slightly above average. But I do love their truffle fries. Yes, it seems like every other restaurant has truffle fries on their menu. No longer just fries.

It's the ambience and environment that is the main draw factor. I didn't take pictures of the whole environment, please go to their website here for more views.

Basically, the whole place is done up in old furniture and accessories. Which are familiar to people in my age group, but only seen in television programs for the young teenagers now. Well, now they get to see and feel them too!

There's a treat for the young kids too. They have at the backyard area, play equipment from the older era too. I love this swim seat espcislaly. As we used to sit on this for hours at my grandmother's old house last time. Come to think of it, most houses have this swing seat.

Lunch at Garibaldi

I met up with Clarice for lunch at Garibaldi Italian Restaurant. Yes, one of my few friends who has a real flexible work schedule to meet up for lunch with me at anywhere in Singapore.

My last time at Garibaldi's was in year 2008. That's 4 years back! And when they serve foie gras as part of their set lunch menu, I make the reservations immediately. You see, my choice of a restaurant for their set lunches would be if they serve the liver as part of it.

For my main dish, I had the striploin. It was quite a good deal as I didn't have to top up for the meat. Certain places require the addition.

For dessert, we opted for cakes from the dessert trolley. Sadly, they are too average tasting to be worth mentioning.

Of course, we ended lunch with coffee.

Marmalade Toast

Having walked through Takashimaya countless of times since it was opened, this is my very first time stepping into Marmalade Toast.

I had their tea break special, which consists of a cake and coffee. I opted for a cup of latte, which I had to paid $1 more for and a lemon tart.

There's something about the lemon tart which appeals to me. The lemon taste is zesty enough to make me not cringe and the pastry part is savory enough for me to want a second piece. I have a feeling I will be looking to find the best lemon tart in Singapore soon. Since I am stopping my search for the best Mont Blanc in Singapore. Kki still has the best Mont Blanc in my opinion.

The cafe is actually not within sight. You have to walk to Chloe, and straight through the exit lobby just next to Chloe.

Baker and Cook

We finally headed to Baker & Cook for brunch.

I think we ordered the wrong food. Since they are a artisan bakery store, we should have just ordered their pastries and bread. But as we were there for brunch, we ordered their pancakes for dar and eggs benedict for me (surprise surprise).

Their pancakes were the thick kind. And they tasted average to me. Let's just say we won't order this again.

Their eggs benedict was average too. But I love the toasted bread it was served in. Super delicious! I am so having JUST their bread the next time we are there!

New Bffs?

It so happens that Kerri is in the same class as Kae's bff's sister.

So will Kerri and Ashlyn turn out to be BFFs like Kae and Kayla?

This picture is so unglam! They just woke from their afternoon naps when it was taken by the teacher.

Island Adventures at National Museum of Singapore

Our last museum stop for the holidays is to the National Museum of Singapore for Island Adventures.

There are 3 main section to the adventures.

1st stop is at Level 1, the concourse for Ahoy! All Aboard! The kids will learn how to overcome challenges as they made their way across the oceans to little sunny Singapura.

The 2nd and most entertaining stop is the Port City at Level 1, the concourse. Kids learn about kampongs and the development of Singapura into a port city with different trading activities which the kids can try to act out at the interactive stations with role playing.

They can get to be a fisherman. Which is by the way, Kae's favorite station.

Kae also tried to be a coolie worker, helping to load and unload the big and heavy sacks. And playing jigsaw puzzle (by mending the "holes" in the sails) all at the same time.

Kae tried to be a hawker, with all the traditional tables, chairs, plates and cultery. And of course, the cookware and head gear.

She got to be a cobbler, by matching the inserts to the length of each shoe.

And tried her hand at letter writing.

The last station is Building a Garden, where kids can use magnet like pieces to create a picture of the wall. Parents get to rest their feet too when the kids doodle.

Be a Piece of Art at Singapore Philatelic Museum

Our 3rd museum stop was to the Singapore Philatelic Musuem.

More specifically for the Be a Piece of Art event.

Basically, Kae has to use stamps and paints to create an art piece, which will be used to create a large network artwork linked together wit dots and lines painted by local renowned painter and sculptor, Mr Sun Yu-li. I only told Kae she is there to paint. Hah!

After the painting session, we took the opportunity to tour the place. Yup, it was my first time there too!

Do you remember these old mailboxes and motorcycle for the postman?

There is this Heritage Room on Level 2 where old traditional tools and trades were showcased. You can take the virtual tour here.

Look at Kae wearing clogs!

Another current exhibition is Imagine Dragons. Children get to explore the world of dragons related stuff through an international collection of stamps, philatelic items and interactive displays.
